Health Talent Pathway: Saskatchewan Immigration for Healthcare Professionals

Are you a nurse, medical laboratory technologist, healthcare aide, or other healthcare professional looking for a Canadian immigration pathway?
The Health Talent Pathway under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is designed for healthcare workers who have an approved job offer from the province and meet the program's eligibility criteria. Nominees must demonstrate a genuine intention to live and work in Saskatchewan.
As of October 15, 2026, healthcare remains a priority sector under the SINP for 2026. While priority sectors may accept applications year-round, acceptance does not guarantee approval.
Who should look into this?
Individuals with expertise or experience in eligible occupations, such as nurses, medical laboratory technicians, dental assistants, pharmacy assistants, and nurse aides (NOC 33102).
You must compare your actual job duties with the NOC code, rather than relying solely on job titles.
Key Requirements
1. SINP-approved Job Offer
You must have a permanent, full-time job offer for an eligible occupation in Saskatchewan.
The employer must complete an Employer Position Assessment (EPA) for the province to verify the position, salary, working conditions, and recruitment viability. A standard job offer letter cannot replace this step.
2. Language Proficiency
There are two pathways:
- Non-Express Entry: Minimum CLB 5 in English or equivalent in French.
- Express Entry: Minimum CLB 7 or higher, as required to meet Express Entry profile criteria.
These are per-skill requirements, not average scores. Non-Canadian degrees require an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) as per instructions.
Test results must be valid according to SINP regulations. Employers or professional regulatory bodies may require higher language proficiency than the immigration threshold.
3. Work Experience
Non-Express Entry:
- Individuals currently working in Saskatchewan may qualify with six months (780 hours) of work experience in the same job with the supporting employer.
- If you have not completed six months with that employer, you need at least one year of experience in the occupation within the last five years.
Express Entry: Requires at least one year of relevant experience in the last five years, a valid Express Entry profile, and meeting federal criteria.
4. Education
Generally, a degree or diploma of at least two years relevant to the job is required as per program regulations.
Some occupations, including NOC 33102, have alternatives: a post-secondary program of at least two years in an unrelated field; or a related program of at least one year with two years of experience in the same occupation within the last five years.
Therefore, a short-term Personal Support Worker (PSW) course does not automatically meet the program's education requirements.
5. Licensing Requirements
For regulated professions, you must check the requirements of the Saskatchewan regulatory body. An SINP nomination does not replace a professional license and does not automatically authorize you to perform professional duties.
Core Process
- Verify your NOC code, language skills, education, experience, and licensing requirements.
- Find a suitable job; the employer registers and applies for an EPA.
- Once the EPA is conditionally approved, the candidate receives a notification and must confirm their information in OASIS. The deadline is usually 10 calendar days; you must adhere to the specific deadline in the notice.
- Submit a complete SINP application via OASIS. There is a non-refundable provincial application fee of 500 CAD.
- SINP reviews, assesses, and makes a nomination decision.
- If nominated, proceed with the PR application with IRCC via the corresponding Express Entry or non-Express Entry stream. Work permit applications, if needed, are separate procedures.
What if I don't have a job offer?
The International Healthcare Worker EOI Pool is a system that connects qualified professionals with healthcare job opportunities in Saskatchewan.
Registering for this EOI is not an SINP application and does not guarantee employment. If you already have a suitable job offer, you are not required to enter the EOI Pool before applying for the Health Talent Pathway.
Common Misconceptions
- Registering in the EOI pool for job searching is not the same as applying for a nomination.
- A job offer does not replace provincial approval of the position.
- Meeting minimum immigration language requirements does not guarantee you meet professional licensing requirements.
- A provincial nomination is not PR. IRCC still conducts medical, security, and background checks, and assesses federal eligibility. Being in a priority sector does not guarantee a positive outcome.
