This information is for obtaining a Verification of Status (VOS) document or a replacement copy of a valid temporary residence document that has been lost, stolen, or damaged.
Verification of Status (VOS)
You can obtain VOS documents outlining relevant historical information for the following papers:
- Certificate of Departure (IMM 0056)
- Immigrant Visa and Record of Landing (IMM 1000)/ Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)
- Visitor Record (IMM 1097 or IMM 1442)
- Work Permit (IMM 1102 or IMM 1442)
- Study Permit (IMM 1208 or IMM 1442)
- Exclusion Order (IMM 1214)
- Deportation Order (IMM 1215)
- Departure Order (IMM 5238)
- Permit to Come Into or Remain in Canada (IMM 1263)
- Authorization to Return to Canada (IMM 1203)
- Protected Persons
Please note: Physical documents as before will not be issued. Instead, a simple paper document will be provided to give you information about your immigration history.
Reissuing valid temporary residence permits.
You can request a replacement of your valid and current temporary residence permit if it is lost or stolen.
You must report to the police and provide the police report number, proving that your documents have been lost or stolen. The following documents may be reissued:
- Visitor Record
- Work Permit
- Study permit
- Temporary Resident Permit
Emergency
If you are in a situation requiring urgent documents such as the following, please let us know:
- You are applying for benefits and have received a notice from Service Canada stating that your application will be closed if you do not provide proof of your immigration information (Note: If you did not receive this notice, you cannot request expedited processing under this criterion).
- You must include a copy of your letter from Service Canada as proof.
- You need to travel abroad because a family member has died or is seriously ill and requires proof of your immigration information to obtain a travel document. You must include evidence (e.g., a doctor's note of care).
- You face the risk of losing your job or job opportunity immediately because you lack proof of your immigration information. Include an original letter from your employer.
