The Canadian Experience Class program is for skilled workers who have work experience in Canada and wish to become permanent residents. It is one of three federal programs administered through Express Entry – an online application system for skilled workers.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible, you need to meet all minimum requirements regarding:
- Skills training experience in Canada
- Language ability
- Educational qualifications (optional)
Work Experience and Skills Training in Canada
You must:
- You must have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada (or equivalent part-time work) within the three years prior to applying.
- Work experience must be accumulated while you are permitted to work under temporary residency status.
- Demonstrate that you have performed the tasks listed in the job description of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system.
Language Skills
You must:
- Take accepted language tests that assess your writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills.
- Meet the minimum required score and enter the results into your Express Entry profile.
Educational Level
There are no educational requirements for the Canadian Experience Program.
Criminal Record and Eligibility for Entry
You must meet the legal and immigration requirements for entry into Canada.
Where You Can Live in Canada
You need to plan to live outside Quebec. The province of Quebec selects its own skilled workers. If you plan to live in Quebec, please refer to information about the Quebec Skilled Worker Selection Program.
