MPNP - (Worker) Career Employment Pathway

Program Update – 06/10/2026

As per the June 11, 2026 announcement, candidates with an active CEP EOI and at least 6 months of work experience in Manitoba are invited to switch to the Skilled Worker in Manitoba (SWM) stream for priority consideration in upcoming EOI draws. Please review the SWM requirements, update your EOI, and fully disclose your education and ties to Manitoba. This notice does not declare the CEP closed; you should not rely on previous CEP criteria to assume eligibility for application or receipt of an invitation.

Education

You must have graduated within the last 3 years from a designated post-secondary institution in Manitoba, from a full-time program of at least 1 year/2 semesters in duration.

Official Languages Proficiency

You must achieve a minimum of CLB/NCLC 7.

Current Employment in Manitoba

• You must have a full-time job offer from an eligible Manitoba employer, with a contract of at least 1 year, in an occupation listed on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List and relevant to the program you completed in Manitoba.
• You must be working full-time in Manitoba with a valid work permit* at the time your application is assessed.

Note: The MPNP may apply program-specific or occupation-specific limits. Graduates of degree programs in Manitoba are eligible if they have a job offer in any TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation (formerly NOC 0, A, or B) listed on the In-Demand Occupations List.

Settlement Funds

You must demonstrate cash/liquid assets equivalent to the LICO requirement for independent financial resources for 6 months, or you must be employed in a full-time, long-term position in Manitoba.

Adaptability

• You must be residing in Manitoba at the time of application.
• You must demonstrate the intention to continue residing in Manitoba after being nominated, including submitting a Career Employment Plan demonstrating the opportunity to develop a successful career path in Manitoba.

Who cannot apply for the MPNP?

The following individuals are not eligible to apply for the MPNP:

• Refugee claimants, or individuals involved in federal appeal or removal proceedings
• Live-in Caregivers currently living in Canada
• Temporary foreign workers currently working and residing in a province other than Manitoba
• Spouses of Canadian citizens or permanent residents
• Individuals refused by the MPNP within the last 6 months who cannot address the reasons for refusal
• Individuals with an active immigration application with another provincial or federal immigration program in Canada (Note: An Express Entry profile is not considered an immigration application)

If you or your spouse already have an active MPNP application, you are not eligible to submit another application for any other stream or pathway under the MPNP.

EOI Process – must be updated to SWM per the new announcement

This process applies to pathways under the Skilled Worker Stream and International Education Stream, with the exception of the International Student Entrepreneur Pilot. Pathways under the Business Investor Stream have a different, separate process and do not use the MPNP Online portal.

• Create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile.
• If you receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA), submit a full application to the MPNP.
• The application will be thoroughly assessed by an MPNP officer.
• Successful candidates will be nominated by the MPNP.
• Within 180 days of nomination, submit a separate application to the Government of Canada for permanent residence for yourself and your family.
