Notification

The New Brunswick Strategic Initiative stream has enough "inventory" for 2025 and is not currently accepting new Expressions of Interest (EOIs). You are invited to return to the Strategic Initiative stream page later this year for information and updates.

Note: The “In-Person Exploratory Visit to New Brunswick” link in the Strategic Initiative stream has been suspended since November 2024 and will not resume from 2025.

Overview

The New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Stream is for French-speaking foreigners with the skills, education, and work experience to contribute to the New Brunswick economy, and who are willing to live and work permanently in New Brunswick.

Applicants must meet the program's eligibility requirements to be invited to apply.

Begin

1) Before submitting, you must meet one of the three connections below:

a) An in-person exploratory visit to New Brunswick must have been made within 12 months prior to submitting the EOI.

  • This connection is only for applicants who are outside of Canada.
  • If you are or have been a temporary resident in a Canadian province other than New Brunswick within the last 5 years, you are not eligible for this connection.
  • Completing an exploratory visit does not guarantee you will be invited to apply.
  • The selection of priorities is based on the New Brunswick labor market and family ties within the province.
  • See the exploratory visit section in the New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Guide for more information.

b) A genuine job or job offer from a New Brunswick employer; or

c) One of New Brunswick's priorities is listed below:

  • You completed your studies at Université de Moncton or Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) within the last 6 months.
  • You have resided in New Brunswick for 12 months and have worked remotely for 12 months for the same Canadian company located outside of Quebec.
  • You received a letter of interest from a New Brunswick Immigration Officer.

If you are a NB graduate and apply without a job offer, you must contact your local WorkingNB office to find out about job opportunities in the province.

2) You must be "PR Ready" when applying for any New Brunswick immigration stream.

That means you:

  • Meets all minimum requirements and selection criteria.
  • I have all the necessary documents to prepare and submit a complete and correct application to the Government of New Brunswick and the Government of Canada.

"PR Ready" helps to process applications more efficiently, with fewer delays, and provides a better experience when applying for immigration programs in New Brunswick and Canada.

After being nominated

If you have received a nomination certificate from the Province of New Brunswick, you are not permitted to withdraw that certificate to reapply under a different program or stream administered by Immigration New Brunswick.

Nominees under the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) are expected to submit their permanent residency application to IRCC before their nomination certificate expires.
