Suitable Candidates
Candidates must hold a valid, active professional registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) to practice as an RN or RPN in Ontario. A nursing degree obtained abroad does not automatically authorize practice in Ontario.
Priority is given to candidates with previous foot care training or experience. Candidates without a Foot Care certificate may still submit their profile for consideration but must proactively enroll, complete training, and obtain the appropriate Foot Care certification before the required deadline. Pursuing and supplementing the certification is the candidate's responsibility; the clinic does not organize or sponsor training.
Experience in nails/pedicures is an asset.
Instructions for Obtaining Foot Care Certification
Candidates without a foot care certificate may refer to the options below. Candidates are responsible for researching, registering, paying tuition fees, and independently completing the course and obtaining the certificate. The information below is for reference only and does not represent courses organized or affiliated with the clinic. Candidates must verify that the certificate meets job requirements before registering.

- Content: foot assessment, nail and callus care, diabetic foot, infection control, and documentation.
- Listed price: $1,950; clarify currency, taxes, equipment, and included items.
- Complete all theory and clinical components within 1 year to receive the certificate of completion.
- Official course information
2. St. Clair College - Basic and Advanced Foot Care for RN/RPNs
Advanced Foot Care (RGN 140N) consists of 3 days of in-person training; requires RN/RPN status, CNO registration number, and completion of Basic Foot Care (RGN 135N). Those who have not completed foot care training should inquire with the college about the pathway (Basic first, then Advanced).
At the time of checking, the Advanced page did not display registerable classes. Contact Continuing Education to confirm the schedule, location, tuition, and certificates issued: coned@stclaircollege.ca or 519-972-2711.
A foot care certificate does not replace RN/RPN registration with the CNO. Candidates must meet the appropriate professional practice and competency requirements before being assigned clinical duties.
Training information verified as of October 11, 2026; schedules, tuition, and admission requirements are subject to change.
Express Entry: Advantages for the Nursing Profession
| Occupational Group | NOC / TEER |
|---|---|
| Registered Nurse (RN) | 31301 / TEER 1 |
| Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), part of the Licensed Practical Nurses group | 32101 / TEER 2 |
Both occupations are in the Express Entry Healthcare and social services category. Current experience requirements: at least 12 months of full-time or equivalent part-time work within the last 3 years, in the same occupation from the list; can be in Canada or abroad and does not need to be continuous. Candidates must still be eligible for an Express Entry program and meet the invitation round guidelines. This is an additional opportunity for category-based selection; it does not guarantee an Invitation to Apply (ITA) or Permanent Residency (PR).
Eligible Canadian work experience can improve CRS scores. As of March 25, 2025, job offers no longer provide an additional 50 or 200 CRS points.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Pathway
Legal, paid employment in Canada can help candidates qualify for the CEC after at least 1 year of eligible experience within the last 3 years, equivalent to 1,560 hours; only a maximum of 30 hours/week is counted. Working more hours does not reduce the one-year timeframe. Self-employment and experience gained while studying full-time usually do not count.
CEC language thresholds: RNs under TEER 1 require CLB/NCLC 7; RPNs under TEER 2 require CLB/NCLC 5 in all four skills. These are eligibility thresholds, not a guarantee of an invitation.
Candidates Outside of Canada
Candidates with nursing experience abroad may be assessed under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) to enter Express Entry before gaining Canadian experience. It is necessary to check experience, language proficiency, education/ECA, selection points, and other conditions. Immigration eligibility and Ontario professional practice eligibility are assessed separately.
Ontario Nomination Opportunities
According to information confirmed by KeyApply, the business currently meets the criteria for OINP employers. Candidates and the job position must still be assessed individually according to the applicable program, including the job offer, professional license, and relevant requirements. Being a qualified business does not mean the candidate will definitely be invited, nominated, or granted PR. KeyApply and the business do not guarantee immigration outcomes; policies, quotas, and selection criteria are subject to change.
