REDI — 2026 Phase Update
Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) is an OINP regional development initiative. Information regarding the four communities and 2025 nomination allocations below is historical, and does not constitute a list or quotas that apply by default for 2026.
Ontario has stated that the 2026 REDI initiative will support a new group of communities; the communities for the next phase are currently under evaluation. Please await official information to determine locations, requirements, and how to participate.
2025 Pilot
The 2025 REDI applied to Lanark County, Leeds and Grenville, Sarnia-Lambton, and Thunder Bay, with 200 nomination slots allocated to each community. This was the 2025 allocation, not a commitment of 200 slots per year.
The 2025 mechanism utilized three Employer Job Offer streams: Foreign Worker, International Student, and In-Demand Skills. These streams were closed during the 2026 OINP restructuring; the old process is no longer used for new applications.
Before Choosing a Pathway
Applicants and businesses should review the Ontario Workforce Priority stream and current REDI announcements. Having a job offer in one of the four 2025 communities does not automatically guarantee eligibility, an invitation to apply, or the granting of permanent residence.
