Start-Up Visa language requirements: IRCC guidance for submitted applications
Program status: According to IRCC, the Start-Up Visa program is paused for new applications effective June 30, 2026. IRCC continues to process applications received before this date. This article outlines the published language requirements for the program.
1. Minimum requirements
The requirement is CLB 5 in all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Results must be less than 2 years old at the time of application; a copy of the results must be included.
2. Accepted tests
- English: CELPIP-General, IELTS General Training, PTE Core.
- French: TEF Canada, TCF Canada.
