CBA is calling on Ottawa to provide lawyers with immediate access to the online portal for citizenship registration.

Since August 2021, IRCC has allowed individuals to apply for citizenship online. However, if represented by a lawyer or immigration consultant, a paper application is still required. Therefore, applying for citizenship with a representative is currently more inconvenient than applying online independently.

The Canadian Bar Association (CBA) is urging Ottawa to immediately allow lawyers to access the online federal portal to apply for citizenship on behalf of their clients.
