Douglas College - Launching two new IT programs - September 2021
We would like to inform you about two new training programs for international students starting in September 2021.
These are the Post Diploma Degree in Data Analysis (1 year) and the Post Baccalaureate Degree in Computer and Information Systems – Cyber Security (2 years).
PDD of Data Analytics program – 1 year – requires students to have a university degree in IT. For students without prior IT knowledge, a two-year program is available, with the first year focusing on Computer Information and the second year on Data Analytics. Data analysts are one of the most in-demand jobs currently, and demand for this position is projected to increase by 39% in British Columbia within the next 10 years. The average salary for a data analyst in BC is approximately CAD 63,000.00 per year.
PBD program of computer and information systems – Cyber Security – The 2-year program does not require students to have prior IT knowledge because in the first year they will be trained in basic information technology knowledge, and in the second year they will study cybersecurity in depth. With a Cyber Security degree from Douglas, graduates can work in any industry from banking, education, online services, e-commerce to aviation, hotels, and defense… The job of a cybersecurity specialist is to protect data and systems, analyze information security, and ensure confidentiality… The average salary for a cybersecurity specialist is 125,000.00 CAD/year (equivalent to 60 CAD/hour).
