New PGWP regulations for students studying 100% online outside of Canada.
On February 12, 2021, the Canadian government announced further measures to support international students. The summary of this update is as follows: As part of the government's efforts to support international students, further measures have been announced allowing international students to complete 100% of their studies online from outside Canada and still be eligible for a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP).
Some important conditions are as follows:
- Meets all other PGWP requirements, and
- Enrolled in an ongoing program of study in March 2020, or
- A program has started or will start between spring 2020 and fall 2021, and
- You have a study permit, or
- You have been approved for a study permit, or
- You applied for a study permit before starting your program.
- Your study permit must eventually be approved.
