[VIU UPDATE] Master of Education Program at Vancouver Island University

Master of Education: (A Bachelor in Education degree is not required)

     It consists of 2 programs:

Characteristic:

• This program provides the foundational skills to become innovative leaders within the school system. It prepares students with practical, ethical, and social tools to solve problems, manage conflict, and foster growth (with Educational Leadership). It also delves deeper into teaching and learning strategies to address unique learning challenges, designed as a highly experiential learning environment (with Special Education).
• Graduates of the program find employment in leadership and management positions within the education sector (with Educational Leadership) and take on Special Education roles at the school and district levels (schools in BC report a significant shortage of qualified personnel in this area).
• VIU was honored as one of 17 universities with outstanding teaching quality from 40 different countries in 2018.
• Small class sizes provide ample opportunities for interaction with friendly instructors.
• Two-year master's and postgraduate programs allow applicants to apply for a PGWP for up to three years.

General requirements:

IELTS 7.0 with no skill below 6.5 and an equivalent certificate. If you do not meet the requirements, you must submit your application along with the ESL course.

A GPA of 3.0/4.0 is required for the final two years of a Bachelor's degree.
