1. College Introduction

Langara College is a public post-secondary educational institution in British Columbia, Canada. The college has programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC's Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable approach is to start by selecting your field of study and type of credential, then cross-reference with entry requirements, campus, duration, and budget.

2. Location and Learning Environment

Location: Vancouver. As the college has multiple locations, not every program is offered at every campus. Before renting accommodation or booking flights, confirm the study location and the mode of delivery—in-person, hybrid, or online—on your letter of acceptance and the program page. Create a separate budget for housing, food, transportation, insurance, and costs for dependents if they are accompanying you.

3. Academic Programs

Areas to explore in the college catalog include university studies and transfer, business, arts, science, technology, and career programs. Program types include associate degrees, diplomas, certificates, and various degree or post-degree programs. The overall college catalog and the catalog open to international students may differ; you must select a program that is currently accepting applications for your intended intake.

Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor's degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If you intend to transfer to a university, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the number of credits actually recognized. For co-op, practicum, or placement programs, verify whether these are mandatory or elective, participation requirements, and the documents you need to prepare.

4. Admission Requirements and Applications

The college evaluates applications based on each specific program and the educational equivalency of the country where you studied. Applicants must cross-reference their diplomas, transcripts, and prerequisite subjects such as English, math, or science, alongside the specific requirements on the program page. Post-degree programs may require a relevant associate/bachelor's degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; and programs with practical components may require supplemental documentation.

Prepare your passport, diplomas, transcripts, required translations, and language proficiency certificates accepted by the college. Check the overall score, individual skill requirements, and certificate validity period for your specific level of study; a single IELTS score is not applied uniformly to all programs. English/EAP pathways and criteria for certificate exemptions must be confirmed separately. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission if the program is competitive or full.

5. International Tuition and Budgeting

The fee schedule effective 01/05/2026 and 01/09/2026 lists international tuition for Regular Studies at 676.96 CAD/credit. An illustration of 30 credits is equivalent to 20,308.80 CAD in tuition; this is a budgeting calculation, not a fixed price for every year/program. Post-degree diplomas have their own rates by program; this does not include fees, books, or living expenses. View the official fee schedule.

Separate tuition fees from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placement fees, and living expenses. When the schedule lists prices by term or credit, you must calculate the total based on the correct number of terms/credits for your pathway. Deposits are usually applied to your tuition account; read the refund policy and deadlines before making payment. The tuition tag on KeyApply, when available, only helps provide a relative comparison between schools, similar to the categorization of Master's & PhD groups; it does not replace the official program fee quote.

6. Scholarships and Financial Aid

Scholarships and awards have their own conditions regarding the program, academic year, academic performance, profile, and international student status. You must check if each award is open to international students or only to citizens/permanent residents, as well as submission deadlines and maintenance requirements. Do not consider a scholarship as guaranteed funding before receiving written confirmation from the college.

7. Intakes and Admission Status

Start dates and application deadlines are announced per program, not as a general calendar for all majors. When choosing the Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer term, check if the program is offered in that term, the campus, document submission deadlines, and the deposit due date. Statuses like open, waitlist, closed, or suspended can change; KeyApply will verify this again before assisting with your application.

8. DLI, Study Permit, and PGWP

DLI Number: O19319074622. You must use the DLI number and campus corresponding to your LOA when preparing your application. The college is a public institution, but having a DLI does not mean all programs are eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

Before applying, check if the program is PGWP-eligible, the CIP code and field of study requirements if applicable, the credential type, the mode of study, and your study history. Per current IRCC guidelines, college/polytechnic programs that do not grant a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree generally require CLB/NCLC 5 language proficiency in all four skills; field of study requirements apply when study permit applications are submitted on or after November 1, 2024, subject to IRCC conditions and exemptions. Bachelor's degree programs have their own regulations.

Students must also meet personal conditions such as program duration, full-time student status, PGWP application deadlines, and online learning regulations. English-only programs and programs taught by private institutions under licensing agreements have different rules. LOAs, PALs/TALs if needed, and study permits are separate steps; the college does not grant permits. Studying at the college does not guarantee the issuance of a PGWP, a 3-year term, employment, or permanent residency.

9. Application Process with KeyApply

  1. Submit your diplomas, transcripts, language certificates (if any), desired major, intake, and budget.
  2. Compare programs currently accepting international students, entry requirements, campus, fees, and PGWP eligibility based on your profile.
  3. Prepare your application according to the checklist, including translations and supplemental documents; submit via the official admissions channel as directed by the college.
  4. Read the offer conditions, complete any missing requirements, and pay the deposit by the deadline as instructed by the college.
  5. Receive your LOA, complete the PAL/TAL step where applicable, and prepare your study permit application. Immigration consulting is handled by RCICs or lawyers.
  6. Cross-check invoices and register for courses, housing, insurance, and orientation sessions before starting your studies.
