Investment business project for entrepreneurs exploring the Canada Provincial Nominee Program. This opportunity is evaluated based on the specific model, location, and investor profile.

AAIP criteria review as of October 6, 2026; commercial information must be confirmed with the seller.

Note on investment level: The purchase price of 65,000 CAD does not meet the minimum eligible investment threshold of 100,000 CAD for the Rural Entrepreneur Stream. Additional accepted investments are required; funds held in an account do not constitute business investment. It is necessary to verify if the business operates year-round and if the physical location qualifies; serving a rural area does not automatically satisfy location criteria.

There is currently a landscaping service business that has been operating steadily for many years in Alberta, with an existing customer base and a complete operational model. Assessment of suitability for the Rural Entrepreneur Stream

This is a business opportunity requiring due diligence, not a business already approved by the AAIP. The minimum eligible investment is 100,000 CAD, with a minimum net worth of 300,000 CAD; candidates must be assessed for experience, education, CLB/NCLC 4 language proficiency, and other criteria.

The location must be in an eligible rural community outside the Calgary/Edmonton CMA, with a population under 100,000, and hold a Community Support Letter. Acquiring an existing business requires 100% ownership; transfer history, former owners, licenses, personnel, and financial feasibility must be verified. Seasonal, project-based, or ineligible businesses do not qualify. Applicants must reside and directly operate the business in Alberta; meeting the investment threshold does not guarantee a nomination or PR.

The sale price, revenue, and availability status must be verified with the seller using current documentation before making a decision. The assessment registration fee on the website is not the purchase price of the business nor the total service fee.

Provincial entrepreneur programs for consideration

  • Alberta Rural Entrepreneur Stream: evaluates business acquisitions, rural locations, and community support letters. Businesses in the Calgary or Edmonton CMA do not fall under this rural stream; the industry, business history, and investor profile must meet requirements.

The suitable program is selected based on the province, industry, investment capital, net worth, experience, language skills, and ability to operate directly. This is a guideline for due diligence and does not confirm that the project has been approved by the province.

Business Work Permit for investors

Can the business hire additional foreign workers?

This can be assessed if there is a genuine position, legal business activity, ability to pay wages, and appropriate staffing needs. With this model, one may consider personnel for sales, technical roles, or operations based on actual needs. Opening or buying a business does not automatically grant the right to hire foreign workers.

  • TFWP / LMIA: assesses the position, NOC, wage level, recruitment efforts in Canada, financial capacity, and employer compliance. Labor quotas and restrictions on low-wage applications depend on the location, industry, and regulations at the time of submission.
  • C16 – Francophone Mobility: may consider hiring individuals with French listening and speaking skills of NCLC 5 or higher for jobs outside Québec, if all conditions are met; exceptions apply for certain primary agricultural jobs.

Hiring foreign workers does not replace mandatory positions designated for Canadian citizens or permanent residents under the entrepreneur program. The Work Permit for the business owner and the employee are assessed separately.

KeyApply support

KeyApply supports model assessment, market research, business due diligence, business plan development, and operational and staffing planning within the agreed scope. Immigration consulting and representation are handled by qualified lawyers or RCICs.
