Career development opportunities are available through co-op – paid internships. Students have the chance to intern at 5-star hotels and resorts, holiday centers, and camps in Canada and beyond.
Select 1-year Culinary Arts Certificate or 2-year- Culinary Management Diploma
Apprenticeship through completion of the Professional Cook (PC)1 and PC2 certifications.
Ingredients are grown locally from suppliers, the on-campus farmers market, and the campus garden.
High teaching standards with hands-on experience in 3 commercial kitchens and the fine-dining restaurant, the Discovery Room .
Opportunities to participate in local and national culinary competitions.
Field School opportunities in Belgium or France
Gain direct entry into the Bachelor's program after a bridging semester.
- Bachelor of Hospitality Management Program – Both Bachelor and Diploma
This is a 4-year bachelor's program. Students can choose to stop after the second year to graduate with a Diploma or continue for another two years to earn a Bachelor's degree.
3 paid co-op internships.
VIU has developed strong professional relationships with leaders in British Columbia, including major resorts and hotels. Rocky Mountain - Fairmont, Delta, Four Seasons and Marriott, as well as numerous smaller properties in Nanaimo, Victoria, Vancouver Island, Whistler, and Vancouver – which recruit students for short-term cooperative educational work opportunities and full-time jobs.
Field school opportunity to Hawaii.
