QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • I had a US visitor visa when I was student for 1 year, and it expired in June 2023. I would like to ask if I want to renew my US visa, is the process the same as when I got my first one? I am in the spousal sponsorship process, just finished my medical check up. should i wait until I get my PR approved to renew my US visa. Or should I start the US visa renewal now just in case there is a waiting time for interview ? Thank you !

If you wish to renew your US visitor visa, the procedure is typically similar to your initial application. However, it's crucial to understand that every case is distinct, and the prerequisites might differ based on your personal situation. Having Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) can enhance your likelihood of securing a US visa. This is because it indicates solid connections to Canada and lessens the possibility of overstaying in the US. Moreover, Canadian PRs often receive US visas valid for up to 10 years. For precise and current details regarding your particular case, I recommend seeking advice from an immigration attorney.
