Canada's immigration measures for those affected by the situation in Ukraine.
The Canadian government has implemented a series of new immigration measures to support Canadian citizens, Canadian permanent residents, and Ukrainian citizens affected by the unfolding situation in Ukraine. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has created a website for those seeking assistance.
Support measures include:
- Expeditiously process new and replacement passports and travel documents for Canadian citizens and permanent residents and their family members in Ukraine so they can return to Canada at any time.
- Priority will be given to applications from individuals currently residing in Ukraine for PR, citizenship, temporary tourist/student visas, and citizenship for adopted children.
- Expanding the temporary public policy allows some visitors to Canada, including Ukrainians, to apply for work permits from within Canada. This means that those who receive a job offer can stay in Canada and begin working while their work permit application is being processed.
