Extend Post-graduate work permits for an additional 18 months for all PGWPs expiring between September 20, 2021 and December 31, 2022.
Minister for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser has just announced:
"As the 🇨🇦 economy continues to recover, hundreds of thousands of jobs remain to be filled. Hardworking international graduates make a huge contribution to their communities and our economy."
We are currently renewing post-graduation work permits for international students whose permits have expired or will expire between September 20, 2021 , and December 31, 2022 .
Tens of thousands of international alumni will receive an additional 18-month open work permit, giving them the opportunity to stay in Canada longer, helping businesses find the workers they need, and allowing us to continue attracting global talent.
This particular measure represents a growth potential in the economy and will allow more graduates to see Canada as their home.
Thank you to everyone who has collaborated with my team to expand this program, as well as to the international and graduate students who continue to choose Canada.
Information on how to implement these special measures will be posted on our website in the coming weeks.
