The Alberta Provincial Nominee Program's Farm Stream (AAIP) program is designed to attract applicants with farm management skills and financial resources to invest in agricultural production in Alberta. Qualified applicants may apply for permanent residency in Canada.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following requirements at the time of application and when the application is evaluated by AAIP. Meeting these criteria does not guarantee that the applicant will be nominated or granted permanent residency.

1. Farm Management Skills :

  • Applicants must demonstrate that they possess farm management skills.
  • Evidence may include, but is not limited to:
    • Financial documents relating to the existing farm business.
    • Educational qualifications, training, and work experience.
    • Business plan for a planned farm business in Alberta.
    • Evidence suggests that Canadian financial institutions are willing to finance this farm business.

2. Sufficient Financial Resources for Investment :

  • Applicants must be able to invest a minimum of CAD 500,000 in an agricultural production business in Alberta.
  • The required documents include:
    • Proof of a minimum net worth of CAD 500,000 or confirmation of access to a similar amount from other sources.
    • Applicants may be required to demonstrate the ability to invest more than the minimum required amount.

3. Investing in Agricultural Production :

  • Applicants must provide a detailed business plan outlining their investment in the production farm, along with their application to AAIP.
  • The business plan will be reviewed by the Alberta Ministry of Agriculture to ensure that the agricultural production activities meet the requirements of the Alberta agricultural sector.
  • Applicants whose projects offer the greatest growth opportunities related to Alberta's agricultural goals will be given priority.

Ineligible Cases:

You will not be eligible to apply if:

  • You have a current nomination that has not expired or you are eligible for renewal under another AAIP program.
  • You received a rejection letter in your previous application stating that you are not allowed to reapply for a certain period of time.
  • You have a deportation order from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
  • You are an international student studying in Canada, including students participating in internships or co-op programs.
