Introduce

Like our patron saint, St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic High School had very humble beginnings. Under the leadership of Principal Wayne Marchand, the school opened in 1995 and welcomed 135 enthusiastic and eager Year 9 and 10 students. The school operated on the Glenvale campus while plans for a new, more modern building on Dixie Street were underway. Each year, the number of students, teachers, departments, and extracurricular activities increased. By 2001, under Principal Dave Dolan, planning and construction of the new Dixie Street campus were nearly complete. In September 2002, the new Dixie Street campus was finished. Over 800 students and 80 staff members moved into a new, modern, and spacious building, equipped to meet the challenges of teaching and learning in the digital age.

Like the growing community of Springdale, so has St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic High School. With a student population of 2,100 and staff of 140, it is a vibrant and active school that continues to thrive. Under the leadership of Principal Tim Yawney, the school has achieved new milestones in academics, faith formation, and athletics.

Inspired by the vision and leadership of Principal Kevin Greco, St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic High School is constantly evolving and changing with the times. The school has significantly transformed to offer a rich and diverse program that meets the needs of a diverse 21st-century student community. Provincial literacy and mathematics scores have soared in recent years, and graduation rates have never been higher. Despite the rapidly changing society around us, we continue to adapt while also upholding the school's core values: “Trust, Adventurous, Loving, Serving.” Like St. Marguerite d'Youville, the school continues to ensure the safety, well-being, and sense of belonging for all students and staff. In partnership with the parish, St. Marguerite d'Youville regularly reached out to those in need and tried to care for the youth in her community, hoping that one day they would achieve great things in their own way.
