About Loyalist College
As its name suggests, Loyalist College is known for its strong, pioneering, determined, and forward-thinking leadership. Loyalist College officially opened in 1967 in a local high school and by 1968 had a permanent home along Wallbridge-Loyalist Road. Two years later, the need for more space and innovative education led to the construction of the Lennox and Addington Wings to house the School of Technology and Retraining. By 1985, more innovative programs such as Photojournalism, Television, and Health Sciences had been added, along with an affiliation with the Institute of Technology of the First Nations in Tyendinaga.
Loyalist College has continued to innovate and grow, adding many groundbreaking programs. They have added new residence halls to accommodate not only Canadian students, but also the increasing number of international students. The need for a skilled workforce spurred further expansion in 2010-11 with the construction of the Bay of Quinte Skills Centre. This 121,800-square-foot facility was built with $16.6 million in investment from both the provincial and federal governments. Thanks to these remarkable advancements, Loyalist College proudly boasts an impressive 96% rate of graduates recommending the college to their friends! Loyalist continues to strive for these impressive achievements and now ranks among the top colleges in Canada.
Today, the Loyalist name is prominently displayed on the doors of Loyalist College and continues to grow, innovate, and lead the way in post-secondary education.
