• Ascension Of Our Lord High School opened to students in 1977 as a middle school. When Father Nolan, the priest at Notre Dame Cathedral, Airways Paris requested the Sisters of Notre Dame in Montreal to assist the school, and they agreed; thus, five Sisters provided support at the school and at the council office from 1978 to 1983.
• The school was significantly expanded after the province decided to fully fund Catholic high schools in 1984. It added Year 11 in its first year, followed by Years 12 and 13. In 2005, the old building was demolished, and a modern building opened in January 2006 at a new location, just across the field. The school offers students a wider range of course options and therefore more learning opportunities.
