Restaurants, cafes, and galleries abound in the downtown area, which also hosts the Oakville Jazz Festival in the summer.

Founded in 1967, Sheridan has grown from a local college with 400 students into one of Ontario's leading post-secondary educational institutions, educating approximately 24,500 full-time and 18,500 continuing and part-time students annually across three campuses in three Ontario cities – Oakville, Brampton, and Mississauga. As an award-winning institution, Sheridan attracts students from across Canada and around the world. Sheridan's 175,000 alumni play a vital role in the arts, business, community service, healthcare, technology, and other high-skilled professions.

  • Campus life: Students can join clubs or societies, attend events organized by the Sheridan Student Union, be active in the gym or take fitness classes, or participate in a recreational sports tournament, and then refuel with a variety of dining options.
  • Facilities: The bookstore has all the necessary student learning materials plus clothing, gifts, and snacks; there are affordable accommodation options; ample parking and changing rooms; printing services; early childhood centers; conference services; career center; health services; library services; tutoring, and much more to help students succeed academically.
  • Inspiring Creativity: Sheridan's Innovation Campus features student-led courses designed to provide problem-solving and critical thinking tools throughout the program. Sheridan was the first university to offer innovation courses to any student in any faculty. The Innovation Campus also fosters collaboration between students and professors within programs and across faculties. Through creative collaboration, students develop awareness of new possibilities and gain the ability to solve old problems with fresh thinking.
