Hello everyone,
We will guide you through the process of obtaining a Vietnamese passport. We provide services to clients in the United States, Canada, and other countries worldwide.
To apply for a passport , you need to provide information and copies of the required documents. Then, you send them via email to the company or upload them directly from this page. After receiving your application, we will review it and contact you if any additional information is needed. Therefore, don't worry about missing or incomplete documents. We will contact you to complete your application. It's only two steps:
Step one:
You need to determine what type of passport you will be applying for.
- If your current passport is still valid, select "Passport still valid".
- If this is the child's first passport application, you should also select " Valid passport/First-time child passport application" . However, if this is the child's first passport application, you will need to provide a Vietnamese birth certificate. If a Vietnamese birth certificate is not available, you will need to provide additional documents. We will discuss this in the section on Vietnamese birth certificates for children.
- This applies to individuals who are 14 years of age or older, or whose passports have expired for 5 years or more.
- The passport expired less than 5 years ago.
- The passport is still valid, but it is lost or damaged and unusable.
- The passport was lost a long time ago, and no information about it remains.
Then you click on the shopping cart.
Next, here are the remaining two options you would choose if:
- Note: If you need to add additional information to your new passport, such as your English name on your Canadian passport, or a new name change, or your old passport number, etc.
- If you need urgent service, select the emergency service option.
Then click on the shopping cart to add additional services.
The second step is to upload the information.
The documents you need to prepare:
- First, download the passport application form . Fill it out and simply sign it on your computer. If you need guidance on how to fill out the form, please call our office; we are happy to provide detailed instructions.
- Passport photo: The passport photo must be taken within the last 6 months, against a white background, without glasses or a hat. You can take the photo yourself at home with your phone without going to a studio, without adjusting the size, and save it as a separate image file.
- Take a photo of one of the documents proving you are currently abroad. These documents include: PR, foreign passport, study permit, work permit, tourist visa, etc. If the document is issued by Canada, you can provide a valid or expired document .

Please send the following to the KeyApply office: Original passport
If you lose your passport, you will need the following additional information:
- Report the loss to your local police department and request a police report number.
- Vietnamese identity card or citizen's identification card (if available).
If this is your first passport application and you are 14 years old or older, or if your passport has been lost for a long time, you will need to add the following:
- Proof of identity documents (please call the company for instructions). This may take longer than usual to process your passport application.

Q&A
Is the fee calculated in CAD or USD? Does the fee include all embassy expenses?
The price will be quoted in CAD and excludes taxes and shipping fees. Taxes will depend on the customer's residential area and will be automatically calculated at checkout. Shipping fees will also be calculated based on the customer's residential area. There are no other additional charges.
Can I use this invoice for tax purposes?
All KeyApply service fees are tax-declarable.
Can I keep my old passport?
You can keep your old passport; however, once your new passport is issued, the old one will no longer be valid. If you wish to continue using visas from your old passport, you can still use both passports simultaneously. Additionally, if you wish, you can request that your old passport number be added to your new passport.
If I don't cut the corners or punch holes in my old passport, can I still apply for a new one?
To obtain a new passport, the old passport must be invalidated by cutting off a corner or punching holes in it. Even if you send your old passport to the Embassy for renewal, it will still be punched before being returned to you.
Will the passport number change when it is reissued?
When a passport is reissued, the passport number will change and be replaced with a different series of numbers. The old passport and its number will no longer be valid. However, if the old passport still has valid visas from other countries, you can still use both passports until the visas expire.
Can I get a Vietnamese passport with an electronic chip?
Vietnamese passports issued abroad do not have an electronic chip. Vietnamese passports only have a chip when they are issued in Vietnam.
When renewing a passport because the old one has expired, will previous legal documents using the old passport number still be valid?
After you receive your new passport, the passport number on your legal documents will also need to be updated to match your new passport number. Make sure you notify the relevant authorities and organizations about the passport number change to ensure the validity and accuracy of your legal documents.
How long is a passport valid for?
Passports are valid for 10 years; however, passports with a child's photo and separate passports for children under 14 years of age are only valid for 5 years from the date of issue or from the date the child's photo is attached.
Does the passport contain the national identity card number or citizen identification number?
Passports issued at the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada do not include the national identity card number or citizen identification number, but this does not affect the validity of the passport.
My Canadian residency documents have expired. Can I still apply for a Vietnamese passport?
Yes, you can still apply for a Vietnamese passport even if your Canadian residency documents have expired.
Do I need to sign my passport?
Passport holders must sign their passports and are responsible for safekeeping them. For passports for children under 14 years old, the signature section may be left blank, and parents are not allowed to sign on behalf of their children.
I changed my name in Canada, so will the new name be included in my Vietnamese passport?
The name on a Vietnamese passport can only be recorded as it appears on your Vietnamese birth certificate or old Vietnamese passport. A Canadian name change certificate cannot change the name on your Vietnamese passport. If you wish to display your new name on your Vietnamese passport, you can add it to the annotation service. Your new name will be included in the annotation.
How long does it take to receive the results?
The processing time varies depending on the individual case. If your passport is still valid, it usually takes about 2-3 weeks to receive the results (excluding shipping time unless you request in-person pickup). If you need it more urgently, there is an expedited service available.
However, if your passport has expired, is lost, or is a first-time adult passport, the processing time will be longer. Please contact KeyApply for detailed advice regarding your specific case.
If I don't pick them up in person, how much will it cost to have the documents sent to my home?
When you check out, the system will automatically calculate the home delivery fee based on Canada Post's rates or those of other shipping companies.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
My baby is just a few months old. I want to make a birth certificate and a Vietnamese passport for the baby. But I read on the birth certificate that now they only make a birth certificate extract and do not issue a birth certificate if the baby already has a birth certificate in Canada. So is that birth certificate extract the same as the birth certificate? And can I apply for that and the baby's Vietnamese passport at the same time.
Birth affidavits and birth certificates are both legal documents, but they have some differences.
A birth certificate extract is an official copy of the birth information recorded in the birth registry. It contains important information such as the parents' names, date of birth, place of birth, etc., just like a birth certificate, but legally, it is an extract of the information that has been recorded.
If your baby already has a Canadian birth certificate, you will not be issued a new Vietnamese birth certificate, but can only request a birth certificate extract.
Regarding applying for a Vietnamese passport for your child: You can apply for a birth certificate extract and a Vietnamese passport for your child at the same time.

Please advise: My child will turn 14 in October 2023. The passport will expire in January 2024. Should I renew it now or wait until my child turns 14?
Hello. If there is no urgent need for a passport, you can wait until October 2023 when your child turns 14 to renew his passport. Because from 14 years old and up, the passport will be valid for 10 years. Under 14 years old, the passport is only valid for 5 years.
