ICT – Intra-Company Transferee (C61/C62/C63)
LMIA-exempt work permit for personnel of multinational corporations transferring to a qualifying business entity in Canada.
Key Applicants and Requirements
- C61: establishing a branch/affiliate; C62: executives/senior or functional managers; C63: specialized knowledge.
- Continuous full-time employment for at least 1 year within the 3 years preceding the initial application, in a corresponding role outside Canada.
- Possession of a qualifying relationship, active business operations, and significant benefit to Canada.
Required Documentation
Company organizational chart, proof of ownership/operations, employment history, transfer letter, job offer, and evidence of the role.
Points to Note
C12 is an obsolete code. T50 is for CPTPP investors, not an ICT code; ICT under CPTPP uses the corresponding T-series code. Foreign companies that are not multinationals cannot qualify for an ICT branch opening on their own.
Being LMIA-exempt still requires meeting the criteria for a work permit. Work permits and permanent residency are assessed separately.
