Anglophone School District – South (ASD-S) – Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada
Anglophone School District – South (ASD-S) is the English-language public school district serving Saint John and numerous communities in the southern part of New Brunswick province. The district manages schools from elementary through high school levels, following the New Brunswick educational curriculum.
1. Type and Location
This is a public English-language school district, not a private school. Specific school placement is determined based on residential address, grade level, capacity, and catchment policies. International students should confirm the school and location before deciding on accommodation.
2. Academic Programs
Students follow the New Brunswick curriculum, with core and elective subjects depending on the grade level and school. At the high school level, students can build a credit pathway toward a provincial high school diploma if they meet all requirements. Advanced programs, sports activities, arts, and English support vary by school.
3. International Student Admissions
ASD-S has a process for admitting international students who pay tuition fees. Parents, guardians, or representatives may coordinate the preparation of the application. The district reviews applications and supporting documents before deciding on approval; submitting an application does not guarantee a spot. Students are only assigned to a school once appropriate residential address information within the district area is provided.
4. Tuition and Fees
ASD-S admission guidelines have previously noted a 250 CAD application fee; KeyApply will verify the applicable fee for the intended academic year before the client makes payment. The 2026–2027 international tuition fee has not yet been verified, so no estimated figures are published. Health insurance, accommodation costs, meals, transportation, and incidental expenses must be checked separately.
5. Housing, Homestay, and Custodianship
Families need to establish a valid residence within the ASD-S area. If a minor student is not living with their parents, requirements for custodianship, authorization documents, and accommodation arrangements must be checked. It should not be assumed that all schools have dormitories or homestays directly managed by the school district. The Atlantic Education International (AEI) program, if applicable, should be considered as a separate option.
6. Anticipated Documentation
The application generally includes a passport, academic transcripts/report cards, birth certificate, parent/guardian information, residential address, and forms or supporting documents required by the district. Additional requirements such as immunization records, health insurance, translations, and proof of residency status must be verified on a case-by-case basis.
7. Letter of Acceptance and Study Permit
Once the application is reviewed and payment obligations are met according to regulations, the district may issue a Letter of Acceptance to support the study permit application process where necessary. Being accepted into the school does not guarantee the issuance of a study permit. Children accompanying parents with a work permit or study permit require a separate assessment regarding enrollment eligibility and tuition obligations.
8. KeyApply Admission Support
KeyApply assists in identifying suitable schools, checking eligibility and capacity, verifying current tuition fees and procedures, guiding the preparation of academic records and documents, and coordinating application submissions and tracking the Letter of Acceptance. Immigration matters, when representation is needed, are handled by an RCIC or a licensed attorney.
