Introduction and Institution Type
Coast Mountain College (CMTN) is a public college in British Columbia with a dedicated department for international student recruitment and support. The college serves the province's northwest region, providing practical training that is deeply connected to the local community. This is the institution's current name; do not create separate material under the former name, Northwest Community College.
Locations
Campuses include Terrace, Prince Rupert, Smithers, Hazelton, and Haida Gwaii. Not all campuses offer every international program. The poster uses an actual photo of the student residence building at the Terrace campus from the college website. You must confirm the campus, housing, and travel schedule based on the program of admission; this region differs from the urban environment of Vancouver.
Academic Programs
The catalogue includes certificates, diplomas, associate degrees, post-degree diplomas, vocational training, and University Studies. Options cover business, environmental/ecological studies, early childhood education, social services, science, and technical trades. For example, the Business Administration Certificate consists of 30 credits in one year, with pathways for further study in specialized diplomas. Only select programs currently accepting international students; do not assume every program in the catalogue is open.
Admission Requirements
Each program has its own prerequisites and English language requirements. Vietnamese students must submit degrees, transcripts, and translations for the college to assess equivalency. Some programs require background checks or documents for practicums. Refer to the requirements in the catalogue and the international admissions page; do not use a blanket IELTS score for the entire college or attempt to self-convert high school grades into admission criteria.
International Tuition
The Business Administration Certificate in the 2026–2027 catalogue lists an international tuition of 13,909.20 CAD for 30 credits; adding student union fees, mandatory fees, and insurance brings the total to 14,963.65 CAD. Including 1,000 CAD for books/supplies results in 15,963.65 CAD, excluding living expenses. This fee schedule is effective from August 1, 2026, for a one-year program. This is a program-specific example, not a universal rate for all courses or a quote for Fall 2027. The international application fee is 100 CAD; the deposit is usually 9,000 CAD and is applied toward tuition/related fees, though vocational programs may require full payment upon receiving an offer. Confirm the 2027–2028 fee schedule once published by the college; do not calculate projections to present as official tuition.
Scholarships
The college offers entrance awards and bursaries for eligible students. International students must review the specific criteria, deadlines, and program/academic status requirements for each fund. Do not assume all Financial Aid funds are available to international students, and there is no guarantee that any individual application will be awarded a scholarship.
Intake Periods
The Business Administration Certificate page currently lists Fall 2027 and Winter 2028 intakes at the Terrace, Smithers, and Prince Rupert campuses. Other programs have separate schedules. The program page provides a projected schedule; the admissions department must confirm current application acceptance, available seats, and timelines for completing a study permit. Do not confuse the deposit deadline with the application deadline.
DLI and PGWP
DLI: O110095977911, classified as a Public institution on the IRCC list. CMTN has programs that may be eligible for a PGWP, but this does not mean every certificate or diploma qualifies. The program, CIP code, timing of the study permit application, delivery mode, and length of study, along with IRCC language requirements, must be checked individually. For example, the Business Administration tuition used in this text is for budgeting purposes, not a confirmation of PGWP eligibility for that program. Do not guarantee employment or permanent residency.
Application Process
Check the International Program Catalogue and program requirements; apply via EducationPlannerBC following college instructions and pay the application fee; email the scanned application package along with the EPBC application number to admissions@coastmountaincollege.ca. Submit official transcripts in the required format upon request. Once an offer is received, review the offer, deposit, conditions, and refund policy. Use the official LOA and PAL (where applicable) to prepare for the study permit; qualified/conditional letters do not replace an official LOA. Follow the college's deadlines for receiving the permit/Letter of Introduction and arrival instructions for the campus.
