1. School Introduction
Collège Boréal is a public post-secondary educational institution in Ontario, Canada. The college offers programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC’s Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable approach is to start by selecting a field of study and the type of credential, then compare admission requirements, campus, duration, and budget.
2. Location and Learning Environment
Location: Sudbury and other campuses across Ontario; locations vary by program, Ontario, Canada. This is a public French-language college. You must verify your French proficiency and check which programs require English; do not use a single IELTS score to replace the school’s language requirements. Before renting accommodation or booking flights, confirm the study location and mode of delivery on your LOA; create a separate budget for housing, transportation, and living expenses.
3. Academic Programs
Fields of study to explore include business, administration and legal studies, technology and trades, health, community services, and environment. The school offers certificates, diplomas, and post-diploma or other credentials depending on the category. Only select programs open to international students at the correct campus and intake.
Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor's degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If you intend to transfer to a university, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the number of credits actually recognized. For co-op, practicum, or placement programs, verify if they are mandatory or elective, participation requirements, and necessary documentation.
4. Admission Requirements and Application
French and English proficiency requirements are assessed based on the program. Academic records must be certified and in French or English; the international submission channel is OCAS IAS as instructed by the school.
The school reviews applications on a program-by-program basis and assesses the equivalency of degrees from your home country. Applicants should compare their diplomas, transcripts, prerequisites such as English, math, or science, along with specific requirements on the program page. Post-diploma programs may require a relevant college/university degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; programs with practical components may require additional documentation.
Prepare your passport, diplomas, transcripts, required translations, and language certificates accepted by the school. Check the overall score, individual skill requirements, and certificate validity for your specific level of study; a general IELTS requirement does not apply to all programs. EAP/English pathways and exemption criteria must be confirmed individually. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission if the program is competitive or already full.
5. International Tuition and Budgeting
The Fall 2026 international table lists the first year of Adjoint juridique, two stages: 2,757.78 CAD tuition + 10,196.32 CAD international surcharge = 12,954.10 CAD in tuition and international fees; plus 3,338.43 CAD in ancillary fees, for a total of 16,292.53 CAD. Programs and intakes have their own rates; three-stage programs cannot be compared to two-term programs.
Separate tuition from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placement fees, and living expenses. When the table lists prices by term or credit, you must sum the correct number of terms/credits for your specific pathway. Deposits are usually applied toward your tuition account; you must read the refund conditions and deadlines before payment. The tuition tag on KeyApply, when present, only helps in relative comparison between schools, similar to the Master's & PhD group classification; it does not replace the official program quote.
6. Scholarships and Financial Aid
Scholarships and awards have specific conditions regarding programs, academic years, academic results, application profiles, and international student status. You must verify if each award is open to international students or only to citizens/permanent residents, as well as submission deadlines and maintenance requirements. Do not consider scholarships as guaranteed funding until you have received written confirmation from the school.
7. Intakes and Enrollment Status
Start dates and application deadlines are published for each program, not as a general schedule for all disciplines. When choosing a Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer intake, verify if that program offers the corresponding intake, campus, document submission deadlines, and deposit deadlines. Statuses like open, waitlist, closed, or suspended can change; KeyApply will verify this again before assisting with your application.
8. DLI, Study Permit, and PGWP
DLI Number: O19395678039. You must use the code and campus corresponding to your LOA when preparing your application. The school is public, but having a DLI does not mean all programs are eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Before registering, check if the program is PGWP-eligible, the CIP code, applicable field of study requirements, credential type, mode of study, and the applicant's study history. According to current IRCC guidelines, college/polytechnic programs that do not grant bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees generally require a CLB/NCLC 5 language proficiency in all four skills; program-specific requirements apply when study permit applications are submitted on or after November 1, 2024, subject to IRCC conditions and exemptions. Bachelor's degree programs have their own regulations.
Students must also meet personal conditions such as program duration, full-time student status, PGWP application deadlines, and online learning regulations. ESL programs and programs delivered by private institutions under licensing agreements have different regulations. The LOA, PAL/TAL (if required), and study permit are separate steps; the school does not decide the granting of permits. Studying at the school does not guarantee a PGWP, a 3-year term, employment, or permanent residency.
