1. Introduction to the College
Holland College is a public post-secondary educational institution in Prince Edward Island, Canada. The college offers programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC’s Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable approach for selection is to start with your field of study and credential type, then cross-reference entry requirements, campus, duration, and budget.
2. Location and Learning Environment
Location: multiple sites on Prince Edward Island, including Charlottetown and Summerside. For multi-campus institutions, not all programs are offered at every campus. Before signing a lease or booking travel, confirm the program location and whether it is delivered in-person, hybrid, or online via your Letter of Acceptance and the program webpage. Budget separately for housing, food, transportation, insurance, and costs for accompanying family members.
3. Academic Programs
Areas of study to explore in the college catalog include business, technology, tourism and culinary arts, arts, health, and trades. Program types include certificates and diplomas; there are also transfer agreements to universities. The overall college catalog and the programs open to international students may differ; you must select a program currently accepting applications for your intended intake.
Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor's degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If you intend to transfer to a university, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the number of credits actually recognized. For programs with co-ops, practicums, or placements, verify whether these are mandatory or elective, participation requirements, and necessary documentation.
4. Admission Requirements and Application
The college assesses applications on a program-by-program basis, considering educational equivalency from your home country. Candidates must cross-reference diplomas, transcripts, prerequisites (such as English, math, or science), and specific requirements listed on the program page. Post-graduate programs may require an appropriate diploma/degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; and programs with clinical/field components may require additional documentation.
Prepare your passport, degrees, transcripts, required translations, and language certificates accepted by the college. Check total scores, individual skill requirements, and certificate expiration dates for your specific level of study; a single IELTS requirement does not apply to all programs. English/EAP pathways and waiver conditions must be confirmed separately. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission if the program is competitive or full.
5. International Tuition and Budgeting
The Business Administration page currently displays the September 2027 intake and a Year 1 international tuition fee of 11,940 CAD, and 10,540 CAD for Year 2, inclusive of the International Student Fee. The total payable to Holland College is 13,478 CAD and 12,268 CAD respectively, excluding books and living expenses. These are published figures for reference; confirm the current academic year fees on your offer letter. Official fee source.
Separate tuition from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placement fees, and living expenses. When a table lists costs by term or credit, you must multiply by the total number of terms/credits in the program. Deposits are typically applied to your tuition account; read refund conditions and deadlines before payment. Tuition tags on KeyApply, when available, serve only for relative comparisons between institutions, similar to how Master's & PhD groups are categorized; they do not replace official program fee quotes.
6. Scholarships and Financial Aid
Scholarships and awards have specific conditions regarding programs, academic years, academic performance, application profiles, and international student status. Check whether each award is open to international students or restricted to citizens/permanent residents, and review submission deadlines and renewal requirements. Do not consider a scholarship as guaranteed until you have received written confirmation from the college.
7. Intake and Enrollment Status
Start dates and application deadlines are published by program, not on a uniform calendar for all fields. When choosing a Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer intake, verify if that specific program is offered, the campus, document submission deadlines, and the deposit due date. Statuses like open, waitlist, closed, or suspended can change; KeyApply will re-verify these before assisting with your application.
8. DLI, Study Permit, and PGWP
DLI Number: O19220082122. You must use the DLI number and campus corresponding to your Letter of Acceptance (LOA) when preparing your application. The college is a public institution, but having a DLI does not mean all programs are eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Before applying, check if the program is PGWP-eligible, the CIP code and field of study requirements (if applicable), credential type, delivery format, and your personal study history. Under current IRCC guidelines, college/polytechnic programs that do not grant bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees generally require a language proficiency of CLB/NCLC 5 in all four skills; program-specific requirements apply if a study permit application is submitted on or after November 1, 2024, subject to IRCC conditions and exemptions. Bachelor’s degree programs follow separate regulations.
Students must also meet individual criteria such as program duration, full-time enrollment status, PGWP application timelines, and online learning regulations. English-only programs and programs delivered by private institutions under licensing agreements have different rules. LOAs, PALs/TALs (if needed), and study permits are separate processes; the college does not determine permit issuance. Studying at the college does not guarantee the issuance of a PGWP, a 3-year term, employment, or permanent residency.
