1. Introduction to the College
Keyano College is a public post-secondary educational institution in Alberta, Canada. The college offers programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC’s Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable approach is to start with your field of study and the type of credential, then compare admission requirements, campus location, duration, and budget.
2. Location and Learning Environment
Location: Fort McMurray. For institutions with multiple campuses, not every program is offered at every location. Before signing a lease or booking travel, confirm the learning location and delivery format—in-person, hybrid, or online—via your Letter of Acceptance and the program page. Create a separate budget for housing, food, transportation, insurance, and costs for dependents if they are accompanying you.
3. Academic Programs
Fields of study within the college catalogue include business, university studies, health, community services, and trades. Program types include certificates, diplomas, and transfer or cooperative education pathways. The overall college catalogue and the list of programs open to international students may differ; you must select a program that is currently accepting applications for your intended intake.
Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor’s degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If you intend to transfer to a university, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the actual number of transferable credits. For co-op, practicum, or placement components, verify whether they are mandatory or elective, participation requirements, and necessary documentation.
4. Admission Requirements and Application
The college assesses applications on a program-by-program basis, considering educational credentials from your home country. Applicants should cross-reference their high school/post-secondary diplomas, transcripts, prerequisites (e.g., English, math, or science), and program-specific requirements on the department page. Post-diploma programs may require a relevant associate/bachelor's degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; and clinical/practicum programs may require additional documentation.
Prepare your passport, diplomas, transcripts, required translations, and language certificates accepted by the college. Check total scores, individual skill requirements, and validity periods for your level of study; there is no universal IELTS score applied to all programs. English for Academic Purposes (EAP) pathways and exemption criteria must be confirmed separately. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission if the program is competitive or at capacity.
5. International Tuition and Budgeting
Based on the Credit Calendar 2026–27 and the International Full-Time Tuition & Fees per Semester table: Business Administration tuition is 7,347 CAD per term; total per term is 7,836 CAD including the fees listed in the table. For example, two terms total 14,694 CAD in tuition, excluding books and living expenses. The number of active semesters and lab fees vary by program. Official fee source.
Distinguish tuition from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placements, and living costs. When a table lists prices by term or credit, you must calculate the total based on the actual number of terms/credits in your pathway. Deposits are usually applied to your tuition account; read refund policies and deadlines before payment. Tuition tags on KeyApply, where available, are only for relative comparison between schools, similar to the "Master's & Doctoral" group classifications; they do not replace official program fee quotes.
6. Scholarships and Financial Aid
Scholarships and awards have specific conditions regarding programs, academic years, academic performance, documentation, and international student status. You must verify if each award is open to international students or limited to citizens/permanent residents, as well as submission deadlines and renewal requirements. Do not consider a scholarship as guaranteed funding until you receive written confirmation from the college.
7. Intakes and Admission Status
Start dates and application deadlines are published per program, not as a general calendar for all majors. When choosing a Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer intake, check if the program is offered in that term, confirm the campus, documentation deadlines, and deposit due dates. Statuses such as open, waitlist, closed, or suspended can change; KeyApply will re-verify before assisting with your application.
8. DLI, Study Permit, and PGWP
DLI Number: O19283886532. You must use the DLI number and campus corresponding to your Letter of Acceptance (LOA) when preparing your application. Being a public institution with a DLI number does not mean all programs are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Before enrolling, check if the program is PGWP-eligible, review its CIP code and field of study requirements (if applicable), as well as the credential type, delivery format, and your academic history. Per current IRCC guidelines, college/polytechnic programs that do not grant a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree generally require a language proficiency of CLB/NCLC 5 in all four skills; program-of-study requirements apply to study permit applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024, subject to IRCC conditions and exceptions. Bachelor’s degree programs have separate regulations.
Students must also meet individual conditions such as program duration, full-time student status, PGWP application deadlines, and rules regarding online learning. Stand-alone English programs and programs delivered by private institutions under licensing agreements have different regulations. The LOA, PAL/TAL (if required), and study permit are separate steps; the college does not determine permit issuance. Attending the college does not guarantee the issuance of a PGWP, a 3-year term, employment, or permanent residency.
