1. Introduction to the institution and types of programs

Medicine Hat College (MHC) is a public college in Alberta, Canada, offering certificates, diplomas, applied degrees, and transfer pathways for international students. Choosing a program should be based on the field of study, study format, campus, and career goals; the public status of the college does not guarantee that every program is eligible for a PGWP.

2. Location and campuses

The college has a Medicine Hat Campus at 299 College Drive SE, Medicine Hat, and a Brooks Campus at 200 Horticultural Station Road E, Brooks, Alberta. Students should verify the campus listed on their program and letter of acceptance; do not assume a program is taught at both locations. The poster uses an aerial photograph of the Medicine Hat Campus from the college's website.

3. Academic programs

The 2026–2027 international program list includes Business Administration (Accounting, Financial Services, Management, Marketing), Early Childhood Education, Information Technology, Addictions Counselling, Child and Youth Care, Kinesiology, Health Care Aide, Pharmacy Technician, and many others. Certificates, diplomas, and applied degrees have varying durations. Some online options are not available to international students; you must cross-reference the Program Availability table and specific program requirements before applying.

4. Admission requirements

International applicants must be at least 18 years old at the start of the program, possess a passport, academic transcripts/degrees, meet prerequisite subjects, and provide appropriate English proficiency evidence. The college requires official academic records submitted according to instructions; documents not in English require an accepted translation. IELTS scores depend on the program group: the 2026–2027 program chart lists 6.0 for many Business and IT programs and 6.5 for others. There is no common score for the entire college; check individual skill requirements on the English Language Requirements page. Post-diploma programs require relevant prior qualifications.

5. International tuition

The 2026–2027 schedule (in CAD) is an estimate based on full-time semester registration. For example, Business Administration Diploma Year 1: tuition is 15,918; total tuition and mandatory fees are 17,304; the total estimate including books/supplies published by the college is 18,441. Year 2 Accounting specialization: tuition is 16,431; tuition and mandatory fees are 17,847. Early Childhood Education Diploma: Year 1 tuition is 17,972 and Year 2 is 16,431. Information Technology Diploma Year 1 is typically 20,539; the co-op pathway has a separate chart. These are program-specific examples, not general tuition for all fields, and do not include living expenses or serve as a 2027–2028 quote. The international application fee is 175 CAD (non-refundable). Per current acceptance letter guidelines, a 5,000 CAD deposit and the first 10,000 CAD of tuition are due within 21 days; refund conditions differ between the two payments. Read the policy and your acceptance letter before paying.

6. Scholarships and financial aid

You must check MHC awards and confirm individually whether international students are eligible for each specific award. No fixed entrance scholarship applying to all international applicants has been verified; therefore, this article does not subtract hypothetical scholarships from tuition fees. Contact International Education to inquire about current opportunities, academic criteria, and deadlines.

7. Intakes and application status

Intakes may be in September, January, or May depending on the program. The Program Availability page currently lists Fall 2027, and many programs are open to international students, but seat availability may change. The international deadline table on the Study at MHC page still shows Fall 2026/Winter 2027: the Winter 2027 deadline for applicants outside Canada was 01/10/2026, which passed as of the 09/10/2026 review date. Do not infer Fall 2027 deadlines from the old table; confirm the deadline for your specific residence and program. Individuals with a study permit already in Canada may have different deadlines.

8. DLI and PGWP

DLI: O18795445892; IRCC lists MHC as a public institution. The college’s 2026–2027 international program chart marks all four specializations of Business Administration as "PGWP: No"; do not present these programs as PGWP pathways. Some programs like Early Childhood Education and Information Technology are marked "Yes," but students must still meet IRCC regulations regarding programs, fields of study, study format, English proficiency, and personal history upon application. A DLI does not automatically guarantee a PGWP, employment, or immigration.

9. Application process

Select a program/campus/intake with available seats → check prerequisites, English, and PGWP eligibility → apply via ApplyAlberta according to MHC instructions and pay the application fee → submit official documents → receive decision and letter of acceptance → pay by the deadline/policy → complete the Study Permit Acceptance Letter and PAL if applicable → process your study permit application, housing, insurance, and prepare for arrival. Do not send original irreplaceable documents without understanding the college’s requirements. KeyApply assists with application review; final admission and visa decisions rest with the college and relevant authorities.

10. Official sources

Source review date: 09/10/2026. Tuition, deadlines, and seat availability may change; check official announcements before applying.
