1. Introduction to the College

New Brunswick Community College is a public post-secondary educational institution in New Brunswick, Canada. The college offers programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC’s Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable selection strategy is to start with the field of study and type of credential, then cross-reference entry requirements, campus, duration, and budget.

2. Locations and Learning Environment

Locations: Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John, Miramichi, St. Andrews, and Woodstock. As the college has multiple campuses, not every program is available at all locations. Before renting accommodation or booking tickets, verify the study location and the mode of delivery (in-person, hybrid, or online) on your letter of acceptance and the program page. Create a separate budget for housing, food, transportation, insurance, and costs for accompanying family members.

3. Academic Programs

Fields of study to explore in the college’s catalog include business, information technology, engineering, health, community services, and trades. Program types include certificates and diplomas. The college’s overall catalog and the catalog open to international students may differ; you must select a program currently accepting applications for your intended intake.

Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor's degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If you intend to transfer to a university, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the number of credits actually recognized. For co-op, practicum, or placement opportunities, review whether these are mandatory or elective, participation requirements, and necessary documentation.

4. Admission Requirements and Application

The college evaluates applications on a program-by-program basis and considers the educational equivalency of the country where you studied. Applicants must cross-reference their diplomas, transcripts, prerequisite subjects (such as English, math, or science), and specific requirements on the program page. Post-graduate programs may require an appropriate diploma/degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; and practical programs may require supplementary documentation.

Prepare your passport, diplomas, transcripts, required translations, and language certificates accepted by the college. Check the overall score, individual skill scores, and certificate validity period for the relevant level of study; a single general IELTS score does not apply to all programs. English/EAP pathways and conditions for certificate waivers must be confirmed separately. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission if a program is competitive or has reached capacity.

5. International Tuition and Budgeting

The 2026–27 Full-Time Fee Schedule lists the total tuition and supplementary international fees as 10,260 CAD for the Fall and Winter semesters (5,130 CAD/semester). This does not include student union fees, insurance, technology/resource fees, books, tools, and living expenses. Programs with different schedules require separate fee reporting.

Separate tuition fees from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placements, and living costs. When pricing is listed per semester or credit, you must calculate the total based on the number of semesters/credits in your study plan. Deposits are usually applied to tuition accounts; read the refund policy and deadlines before making any payment. Tuition tags on KeyApply, when available, are only for relative comparison between schools, similar to the "Master's & Doctoral" group classification; they do not replace official program fee quotes.

6. Scholarships and Financial Aid

Scholarships and awards have specific conditions regarding programs, academic year, academic performance, documentation, and international student status. You must check whether each award is open to international students or limited to citizens/permanent residents, as well as submission deadlines and maintenance requirements. Do not consider scholarships as guaranteed funding until you have received written confirmation from the college.

7. Intakes and Admission Status

Start dates and application deadlines are announced by program, not by a general calendar for all majors. When selecting a Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer intake, verify that the program is offered in that term, the campus location, document submission deadlines, and deposit due dates. Statuses such as open, waitlist, closed, or suspended can change; KeyApply will re-verify these before assisting with your application.

8. DLI, Study Permit, and PGWP

DLI Number: O19391556439. You must use the DLI number and campus corresponding to your Letter of Acceptance (LOA) when preparing your visa application. As a public institution, having a DLI status does not mean every program is eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

Before applying, check if the program is PGWP-eligible, the CIP code, applicable field of study requirements, credential type, mode of study, and your educational history. Under current IRCC guidance, college/polytechnic programs that do not grant a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree generally require a CLB/NCLC 5 in all four language skills; field of study requirements apply to study permit applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024, subject to IRCC conditions and exceptions. Bachelor’s degree programs have separate regulations.

Students must also meet individual criteria such as program duration, full-time enrollment, PGWP application deadlines, and online study regulations. English-only programs and programs taught by private institutions under licensing agreements have different rules. The LOA, PAL/TAL (if applicable), and study permit are separate steps; the college does not determine permit approval. Studying at the college does not guarantee the issuance of a PGWP, a 3-year permit, employment, or permanent residency.

9. Application Process with KeyApply

  1. Submit diplomas, transcripts, language certificates (if any), intended program, intake, and budget.
  2. Compare programs currently accepting international students, entry requirements, campus, fees, and PGWP eligibility based on your profile.
  3. Prepare documents according to the official checklist, including translations and supplementary materials; submit via the official admissions channel as guided by the college.
  4. Read the conditions of your offer, complete any remaining requirements, and pay the deposit on time according to college instructions.
  5. Receive your LOA, complete the PAL/TAL step if applicable, and prepare your study permit application. Immigration consulting is handled by an RCIC or lawyer.
  6. Verify invoices, register for courses, arrange housing, insurance, and review orientation materials before starting your studies.
