1. Introduction to the college

Niagara College Canada is a public post-secondary educational institution in Ontario, Canada. The college offers programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC's Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable approach for selection is to start with the field of study and credential type, then cross-reference entry requirements, campus, duration, and budget.

2. Location and learning environment

Location: Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake (Daniel J. Patterson Campus), Ontario, Canada. This page introduces two public campuses in the Niagara region. Niagara College – Toronto has ceased operations and is not presented as a current enrollment option. Before renting accommodation or booking travel, confirm the study location and mode of study on your LOA; set aside a separate budget for housing, transportation, and living expenses.

3. Academic programs

Fields to explore include business, hospitality and tourism, culinary, trades and technology, information technology, health, community services, and environment. The college offers certificates, diplomas, and post-graduate or other credential pathways depending on the portfolio. Only select programs currently open to international students at the correct campus and intake.

Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor's degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If you wish to transfer to a university, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the number of credits actually recognized. For co-op, practicum, or placement, consider whether it is mandatory or elective, participation requirements, and necessary documentation.

4. Admission requirements and application

The college assesses applications on a program-by-program basis, considering the equivalence of qualifications from the country of origin. Applicants should cross-reference diplomas, transcripts, prerequisite subjects such as English, math, or science, alongside specific requirements on the program page. Post-graduate programs may require a relevant diploma/degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; and programs with practical components may require additional documentation.

Prepare your passport, degrees, transcripts, required translations, and language certificates accepted by the college. Check the overall score, individual skill scores, and certificate validity period for the specific level of study; a single general IELTS score does not apply to all programs. English/EAP pathways and requirements for certificate waivers must be confirmed separately. Meeting the minimum requirement does not guarantee admission if the program is competitive or has reached capacity.

5. International tuition and budgeting

Estimate for Business Diploma, Fall 2026, academic year 2026–27: international tuition is 8,075 CAD per level, two levels for Year 1 is 16,150 CAD. Total tuition, ancillary, and material fees for Year 1 is 20,085.80 CAD; total for four levels is estimated at 40,121.78 CAD. Books and living expenses are calculated separately; future fees are estimates. Official fee schedule.

Separate tuition from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placements, and living costs. When the fee schedule lists prices by term or credit, you must sum the correct number of terms/credits for your pathway. Deposits are usually applied to the tuition account; read the refund policy and deadlines before making payment. The tuition tag on KeyApply, if present, is for relative comparison between schools only, similar to a classification of Master's & PhD groups; it does not replace the specific program fee quote.

6. Scholarships and financial aid

Scholarships and awards have specific conditions regarding program, academic year, academic performance, profile, and international student status. Check if each award is open to international students or restricted to citizens/permanent residents, as well as submission deadlines and maintenance requirements. Do not consider a scholarship as guaranteed until you have received written confirmation from the college.

7. Intakes and enrollment status

Start dates and application deadlines are published per program, not as a general calendar for all majors. When selecting a Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer intake, check if the program is open for that term, the campus, document submission deadlines, and the deposit due date. The status (open, waitlist, closed, or suspended) can change; KeyApply will verify this before assisting with your application.

8. DLI, study permit, and PGWP

DLI Number: O19396019469. You must use the DLI number and campus corresponding to your LOA when preparing your application. Being a public college with a DLI does not mean all programs are eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

Before enrolling, check if the program qualifies for the PGWP, the program's CIP code and field of study requirements (if applicable), credential type, mode of study, and the applicant's study history. Under current IRCC guidelines, college/polytechnic programs that do not grant a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree generally apply a CLB/NCLC 5 language requirement across all four skills; field of study requirements apply when study permit applications are submitted on or after November 1, 2024, subject to IRCC conditions and exceptions. Bachelor's degree programs have separate regulations.

Students must also meet personal requirements such as program duration, full-time study status, PGWP application deadlines, and online study regulations. Standalone English programs and programs delivered by private institutions under licensing agreements have different regulations. The LOA, PAL/TAL (if required), and study permit are separate steps; the college does not decide on the issuance of permits. Studying at the college does not guarantee the issuance of a PGWP, a 3-year validity period, employment, or permanent residency.
