1. Introduction to the College
NorQuest College is a public post-secondary educational institution in Alberta, Canada. The college offers programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC’s Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable approach is to start by selecting a field of study and the type of credential, then cross-reference entry requirements, campus, duration, and budget.
2. Location and Learning Environment
Location: Edmonton and other locations specified by the program. For colleges with multiple campuses, not every program is offered at every location. Before renting housing or booking tickets, confirm the study location and the mode of delivery (in-person, hybrid, or online) on your Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and the program page. Create a separate budget for housing, food, transportation, insurance, and expenses for family members if they are accompanying you.
3. Academic Programs
Fields of study to explore in the college catalog include health, community services, business, and technology. Program types include certificates and diplomas as per the catalog. The college's overall catalog and the list of programs open to international students may differ; ensure you select a program that is accepting applications for your intended intake.
Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor’s degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If you wish to transfer to a university, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the number of credits actually recognized. For co-ops, practicums, or placements, verify whether they are mandatory or elective, participation requirements, and necessary documentation.
4. Admission Requirements and Application
The college evaluates applications on a program-by-program basis and considers the educational equivalence of the country where you studied. Applicants must cross-reference diplomas, transcripts, prerequisite subjects (such as English, math, or science), and specific requirements on the program page. Post-diploma programs may require a relevant associate/bachelor's degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; and programs with practicums may require additional documentation.
Prepare your passport, degrees, transcripts, required translations, and language certificates accepted by the college. Check the overall score, individual skill requirements, and certificate expiration dates for your specific level of study; a generic IELTS score does not apply to all programs. English/EAP pathways and exemption conditions must be confirmed separately. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission if the program is competitive or full.
5. International Tuition and Budgeting
The fee schedule on the page is valid for September 2026; Business Administration has an international tuition rate of 706.90 CAD per credit. An illustration of 30 credits equals 21,207 CAD in tuition, excluding fees, books, and living expenses. The actual number of credits depends on the program and pathway; other programs have different credit rates. View the official fee schedule.
Separate tuition fees from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placement fees, and living expenses. When the table lists prices by term or credit, you must sum the correct number of terms/credits for your pathway. Deposits are usually applied to your tuition account; read the refund conditions and deadlines before payment. The tuition tag on KeyApply, if present, is only for relative comparison between schools, similar to the Master's & PhD classification, and does not replace the program's official fee quote.
6. Scholarships and Financial Aid
Scholarships and awards have specific conditions regarding programs, academic years, academic performance, applications, and international student status. Check if each award is open to international students or limited to citizens/permanent residents, as well as submission deadlines and maintenance requirements. Do not consider scholarships as guaranteed funding until you receive written confirmation from the college.
7. Intakes and Admission Status
Start dates and application deadlines are published for each program, not as a general schedule for all disciplines. When selecting the Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer intake, check if the program is open for that term, the campus, document submission deadlines, and deposit deadlines. The status (open, waitlist, closed, or suspended) may change; KeyApply will verify this again before assisting with your application.
8. DLI, Study Permit, and PGWP
DLI Number: O18795996622. Use this number and the appropriate campus matching your LOA when preparing your application. Being a public college with a DLI number does not mean all programs are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Before enrolling, verify if the program is PGWP-eligible, check the CIP code, and review field of study requirements if applicable, credential type, study mode, and your own study history. According to current IRCC guidance, college/polytechnic programs that do not lead to a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree generally require CLB/NCLC 5 in all four language skills; field of study requirements apply to study permit applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024, subject to IRCC conditions and exemptions. Bachelor’s degree programs have separate regulations.
Students must also meet individual criteria such as program duration, full-time status, PGWP application deadlines, and online learning regulations. Standalone English programs and programs delivered by private institutions under licensing agreements have different regulations. The LOA, PAL/TAL (if required), and study permit are separate steps; the college does not determine permit approval. Studying at the college does not guarantee the issuance of a PGWP, a 3-year term, employment, or permanent residency.
