1. Institution Overview
Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) is a public college in Nova Scotia that accepts international students. The college focuses on vocational training and applied skills; applicants should choose a program based on their academic background, career goals, and the specific program's admission requirements.
2. Location and Learning Environment
NSCC has a network of campuses across many communities in Nova Scotia. The Ivany Campus is located in Dartmouth; other programs may be held in Halifax or other cities and towns throughout the province. Please verify the correct campus on your offer letter, as well as accommodation, transportation, and practicum locations before submitting your application. The poster on this page uses real photos of the Ivany Campus.
3. Academic Programs
NSCC’s portfolio includes business, information technology, engineering and technology, skilled trades, health and community services, creative arts, and tourism and hospitality. Each program has its own requirements, duration, and campus; not all programs in the catalog are open to international students every intake. Please check the admission status and requirements for your program on the college website.
4. Admission Requirements
Applications are evaluated based on the program’s academic and subject-specific requirements. You will need to prepare your graduation certificate, transcripts, and documents as per NSCC’s instructions; the college provides documentation and language proficiency guidelines based on the country where you completed high school. English language requirements, prerequisites, or additional documents must be checked against the specific program. There is no universal IELTS score applied to the entire college.
5. International Tuition Fees
2026–2027 fee schedule: full-time tuition is 13,505 CAD/academic year; international student fee is 1,000 CAD, and student service fee is 200 CAD. Other costs include health insurance, campus student association fees, and books/supplies; co-op and U-Pass fees apply where applicable. The application fee is 100 CAD; a 5,000 CAD deposit is applied toward tuition. Living expenses are not included. Tuition fees for 2027–2028 should be verified upon official release; do not consider current figures as a fixed quote for all intakes or programs.
6. Scholarships and Financial Aid
NSCC has a system of student awards, scholarships, and bursaries. International students must check the eligibility criteria, programs, academic years, and deadlines for each award before applying. Scholarships are not guaranteed and should not be relied upon as secured funding when budgeting.
7. Intakes and Admission Status
Verified on October 9, 2026: most 2027–2028 academic year programs are open for applications, but please check individual programs; some IST trade programs are expected to open in November as the admission process is under review. International admissions for the January 2027 intake are closed. NSCC requires completed applications for the 2027–2028 academic year by April 1, 2027; seats may fill up before the deadline.
8. DLI and PGWP
DLI: O19091820452. IRCC recognizes NSCC as a public institution. Being on the DLI list does not mean all programs are PGWP-eligible; NSCC confirms only certain programs qualify. Before making payment, verify your program/campus, CIP code, and IRCC regulations applicable at the time of your study permit application, along with your personal eligibility for a PGWP. Employment or permanent residency is not guaranteed.
9. Application Process
Select program and campus → check international admission availability, requirements, and PGWP eligibility → prepare a budget → prepare academic and language documents → apply according to NSCC instructions and pay fees → follow up on additional requirements → receive/accept offer and pay deposit → prepare study permit application and provincial documents if applicable → arrange accommodation, insurance, and course registration. NSCC allows one active application with up to two program choices; the same program at two different campuses counts as two choices.
