1. Institution Introduction

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is a public post-secondary institution in Alberta, Canada. The college offers programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC’s Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable approach is to start by identifying your field of study and credential type, then cross-reference admission requirements, campus location, duration, and budget.

2. Location and Learning Environment

Location: Olds, Alberta; verify the campus for your specific program. For institutions with multiple campuses, not every program is offered at every location. Before renting housing or booking flights, confirm the study location and the mode of delivery (in-person, hybrid, or online) on your Letter of Acceptance and the program page. Create a separate budget for housing, food, transportation, insurance, and costs for accompanying dependents.

3. Academic Programs

Fields of study to explore in the college’s catalog include agriculture, agricultural technology, business, horticulture, the environment, and trades. Program types include certificates, diplomas, and degrees/post-diploma programs. The college’s overall catalog and the programs open to international students may differ; you must select a program currently accepting applications for your intended intake.

Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor’s degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If you intend to transfer to a university, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the number of credits actually recognized. For co-ops, practicums, or placements, verify if they are mandatory or elective, participation requirements, and the necessary documentation.

4. Admission Requirements and Application

The institution reviews applications on a per-program basis and considers the equivalency of credentials from your home country. Applicants must compare their diplomas, transcripts, prerequisites (such as English, math, or science), and specific requirements listed on the program page. Post-diploma programs may require a relevant associate/bachelor's degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; and programs with clinical or field components may require supplemental documentation.

Prepare your passport, credentials, transcripts, required translations, and the language proficiency certificates accepted by the college. Check total score requirements, individual skill minimums, and score validity periods for your specific academic level; a general IELTS score does not apply to all programs. English pathways/EAP and exemptions must be confirmed separately. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission if the program is competitive or has reached capacity.

5. International Tuition and Budgeting

The 2026–27 Program Dates, Tuition, and Fees chart lists the international tuition for first-year Business Management at 8,449.95 CAD for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms each, totaling 16,899.90 CAD for two terms. Mandatory fees, program/material fees, and books are calculated separately according to the table; these apply to programs starting within the academic year noted on the chart. View the official fee schedule.

Separate tuition from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placement fees, and living expenses. When the table lists prices per term or per credit, you must calculate the total based on the actual number of terms/credits in your program path. Deposits are generally applied toward your tuition account; read the refund policies and deadlines before making payments. The tuition tags on KeyApply, when available, are only for relative comparison between institutions, similar to the "Master's & Doctoral" group classifications; they do not replace the program's official fee schedule.

6. Scholarships and Financial Aid

Scholarships and awards have specific conditions regarding programs, academic years, academic performance, application profiles, and international student status. You must check if each award is open to international students or restricted to citizens/permanent residents, as well as deadlines and maintenance requirements. Do not consider scholarships as guaranteed funding until you receive written confirmation from the institution.

7. Intakes and Admission Status

Start dates and application deadlines are published per program, not as a general calendar for all majors. When selecting a Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer term, verify if the program is open for that term, the campus location, document submission deadlines, and deposit due dates. Statuses such as open, waitlist, closed, or suspended can change; KeyApply will re-verify these before assisting with your application.

8. DLI, Study Permit, and PGWP

DLI Number: O18713227822. Use this number and the appropriate campus matching your LOA when preparing your application. Being a public institution with a DLI number does not guarantee that every program is eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

Before registering, check if the program is PGWP-eligible, the CIP code, and applicable field of study requirements, credential type, mode of study, and the applicant's academic history. Under current IRCC guidelines, college/polytechnic programs that do not grant a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree typically require a language proficiency of CLB/NCLC 5 in all four skills; field of study requirements apply if the study permit application is submitted on or after November 1, 2024, subject to IRCC conditions and exceptions. Bachelor's degree programs have separate regulations.

Students must also meet personal conditions such as program duration, full-time student status, PGWP application deadlines, and online study regulations. Programs consisting purely of English language studies or programs delivered by private institutions under licensing agreements have different regulations. The LOA, PAL/TAL (if required), and study permit are separate steps; the college does not determine permit approval. Studying at this institution does not guarantee the issuance of a PGWP, a 3-year permit, employment, or permanent residency.

9. Application Process with KeyApply

  1. Submit your credentials, transcripts, language certificates (if any), preferred program, intake term, and budget.
  2. Compare programs currently accepting international students, admission requirements, campus locations, fees, and PGWP eligibility based on your profile.
  3. Prepare your application according to the checklist, including translations and supplemental documents; submit via the official admissions channel as directed by the college.
  4. Read the offer conditions, complete any missing requirements, and pay the deposit by the deadline as instructed by the college.
  5. Receive your LOA, complete the PAL/TAL step if applicable, and prepare your study permit application. Immigration consulting is handled by an RCIC or lawyer.
  6. Verify your invoices, register for courses, arrange housing, secure insurance, and review orientation materials before starting your studies.
