1. Institutional Introduction
Red River College Polytechnic is a public post-secondary educational institution in Manitoba, Canada. The college offers programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC’s Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable approach is to begin by identifying the field of study and credential type, then verify the admission requirements, campus, duration, and budget.
2. Location and Learning Environment
Location: Winnipeg, with the Notre Dame Campus and Exchange District Campus; other campuses depend on the program, Manitoba, Canada. The international list currently publishes program openings for Winter 2027 and Fall 2027, subject to the program, campus, and quota. Programs may change or intake may close; do not infer PGWP eligibility solely from the program name. Before leasing housing or booking flights, confirm the study location and delivery format on your Letter of Acceptance (LOA); establish a separate budget for housing, transportation, and living expenses.
3. Academic Programs
Fields of study include business, information technology and cybersecurity, engineering, mechatronics and trades, health, community services, arts, and hospitality. The college offers certificates, diplomas, and post-graduate or other credential pathways depending on the catalog. Only select programs open to international students at the correct campus and semester.
Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor's degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If planning to transfer to a university, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the actual number of transferable credits. For co-op, practicum, or placement components, clarify whether they are mandatory or elective, participation conditions, and necessary documentation.
4. Admission Requirements and Application
The college reviews applications based on individual program requirements and the educational equivalence of the applicant's home country. Applicants must compare their diplomas, transcripts, prerequisite subjects (such as English, math, or science), and specific requirements on the program page. Post-graduate programs may require an appropriate diploma/degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; and programs with clinical placements may require additional documentation.
Prepare your passport, degrees, transcripts, required translations, and language certificates accepted by the college. Check total scores, individual skill scores, and certificate validity periods for the appropriate level of study; do not apply a general IELTS score across all programs. English/EAP pathways and certificate exemption criteria must be confirmed separately. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission if the program is competitive or has reached capacity.
5. International Tuition and Budgeting
The Mechatronics page currently lists an expected start date of January 4, 2027, at the Notre Dame Campus: estimated Year 1 international program/student fees are 23,943 CAD; books and supplies are estimated at an additional 1,000 CAD. This is the total program/student fee for a reference program, not an individual tuition rate or a general rate for all programs; fees are subject to change. Official fee source.
Separate tuition fees from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placement fees, and living expenses. When the table lists prices per term or credit, you must multiply by the correct number of terms/credits in the curriculum. Deposits are typically applied toward the tuition account; read the refund policy and deadlines carefully before payment. The tuition tag on KeyApply, when present, only serves as a relative comparison between schools, similar to categorizing Master's & PhD groups; it does not replace the official program fee quote.
6. Scholarships and Financial Aid
Scholarships and awards have specific conditions regarding the program, academic year, academic performance, application, and international student status. Check whether each award is open to international students or limited to citizens/permanent residents, as well as submission deadlines and maintenance requirements. Do not consider a scholarship as guaranteed until you receive written confirmation from the college.
7. Intakes and Enrollment Status
Start dates and application deadlines are published per program, not as a general calendar for all majors. When selecting a Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer term, verify that the program is open for that term, check the campus, additional document deadlines, and deposit due dates. Statuses such as open, waitlist, closed, or suspended may change; KeyApply will verify this before assisting with the application.
8. DLI, Study Permit, and PGWP
DLI Number: O19305836302. Use this number and the appropriate campus matching your LOA when preparing your application. While the college is a public institution, having a DLI number does not mean all programs are eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Before enrolling, verify if the program is PGWP-eligible, check the CIP code and field of study requirements if applicable, credential type, study format, and your personal academic history. Under current IRCC guidance, college/polytechnic programs that do not grant a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree generally require a CLB/NCLC 5 language level in all four skills; field of study requirements apply when study permit applications are submitted on or after November 1, 2024, according to IRCC conditions and exceptions. Bachelor’s degree programs have separate regulations.
Students must also meet personal conditions such as program duration, full-time student status, PGWP application deadlines, and online study regulations. English-only programs and programs taught by private institutions under licensing agreements have different regulations. The LOA, PAL/TAL (if needed), and the study permit are separate processes; the college does not determine permit eligibility. Studying at the college does not guarantee the issuance of a PGWP, a 3-year permit, employment, or permanent residency.
