1. Introduction to the Institution
Sault College is a public post-secondary educational institution in Ontario, Canada. The college offers programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC’s Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable approach for selecting a program is to start with the field of study and the type of credential, then cross-reference with entry requirements, campus, duration, and budget.
2. Location and Learning Environment
Location: Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. This page introduces the Sault Ste. Marie campus; do not assume the conditions of this campus apply to programs delivered by private partner institutions. Before renting housing or booking tickets, verify the study location and mode of study on your Letter of Acceptance (LOA); budget separately for housing, transportation, and living expenses.
3. Academic Programs
Fields of study include business, information technology, engineering and trades, health, community services, natural resources, and the arts. The college offers certificates, diplomas, and post-graduate or other credential pathways depending on the catalog. Only select programs that are open to international students at the specific campus and intake.
Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor's degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If you intend to pursue university transfer, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the actual number of credits recognized. For co-op, practicum, or placement opportunities, clarify whether they are mandatory or elective, participation requirements, and the necessary documentation.
4. Admissions Requirements and Documentation
The college assesses applications on a program-by-program basis, considering the equivalency of credentials from the country of origin. Applicants must compare their diplomas, transcripts, prerequisites (such as English, math, or science), and specific requirements listed on the program page. Post-graduate programs may require a relevant diploma/degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; and programs with clinical or practical components may require additional documentation.
Prepare your passport, credentials, transcripts, required translations, and school-accepted language certificates. Check the total score, individual skill requirements, and certificate validity period for your specific academic level; do not apply a generic IELTS score to all programs. English pathways/EAP and requirements for certificate waivers must be confirmed separately. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission if the program is competitive or has reached capacity.
5. International Tuition and Budgeting
The 2026/2027 Annual Fee Schedule publishes full-time post-secondary international tuition at 15,552–23,492 CAD/year, excluding program 4163. Ancillary fees, insurance, and program-specific fees are calculated separately. Refer to the Schedule of Fees for the specific program; this is not a fixed fee for all courses.
Separate tuition fees from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placements, and living costs. When fees are listed by term or credit, you must calculate the total based on the number of terms/credits in the curriculum. Deposits are typically applied to your tuition account; read refund policies and deadlines carefully before paying. Tuition tags on KeyApply, when available, only assist in relative comparisons between institutions, similar to how Master's & PhD groups are categorized; they do not replace official program fee quotes.
6. Scholarships and Financial Aid
Scholarships and awards have specific conditions regarding programs, academic years, academic performance, applications, and international student status. Check whether each award is open to international students or limited to citizens/permanent residents, and verify submission deadlines and maintenance requirements. Do not consider a scholarship guaranteed until you have received written confirmation from the college.
7. Intakes and Enrollment Status
Start dates and application deadlines are published by individual programs, not as a general calendar for all majors. When choosing a Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer intake, check if the program is available for that term, the campus, document submission deadlines, and deposit due dates. Statuses such as open, waitlist, closed, or suspended may change; KeyApply will re-verify this before assisting with your application.
8. DLI, Study Permit, and PGWP
DLI Number: O19395677683. Use this number and the campus corresponding to your LOA when preparing your application. While this is a public institution, having a DLI does not mean all programs are eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Before enrolling, verify that the program is PGWP-eligible, check the CIP code and any applicable field of study requirements, credential type, mode of study, and your educational history. Under current IRCC guidelines, college/polytechnic programs that do not grant a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree typically require CLB/NCLC 5 in all four language skills; field of study requirements apply to study permit applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024, subject to IRCC conditions and exemptions. Bachelor's degree programs have separate regulations.
Students must also meet personal conditions such as program duration, full-time student status, PGWP application deadlines, and online learning regulations. English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) programs and programs delivered by private institutions under licensing agreements have different regulations. The LOA, PAL/TAL (if required), and study permit are distinct steps; the college does not decide on permit issuance. Studying at this institution does not guarantee the issuance of a PGWP, a 3-year permit, employment, or permanent residency.
