1. Introduction to the College
St. Clair College is a public post-secondary educational institution in Ontario, Canada. The college offers programs for international students and is listed on the IRCC’s Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list. A suitable approach is to begin by identifying your field of study and the type of credential, then cross-referencing admission requirements, campus locations, duration, and budget.
2. Location and Learning Environment
Locations: Windsor and Chatham. As the college has multiple campuses, not every program is offered at every location. Before leasing housing or booking flights, verify the study location and the mode of delivery (in-person, hybrid, or online) on your Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and the program page. Prepare a separate budget for housing, food, transportation, insurance, and costs for accompanying family members.
3. Academic Programs
Fields of study available in the college catalog include business, technology, skilled trades, health, community studies, and arts and media. Program types include certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, degrees, and graduate certificates. The college's general catalog and the list of programs open to international students may differ; you must select a program currently accepting applications for your intended intake.
Certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, and bachelor's degrees have different levels and requirements. A graduate certificate is not a master's degree. If you intend to transfer to a university, check credit transfer agreements, grade requirements, and the number of credits that will actually be recognized. For co-op, practicum, or placement opportunities, review whether they are mandatory or elective, the eligibility requirements, and the necessary documentation.
4. Admission Requirements and Application
The college evaluates applications based on individual program requirements and the educational equivalency of the applicant's country. Applicants must compare their diplomas, transcripts, and prerequisite subjects (such as English, math, or science) with the specific requirements listed on the program page. Post-graduate programs may require a relevant college diploma or bachelor's degree; arts programs may require a portfolio, audition, or interview; and programs with clinical or field placements may require additional documentation.
Prepare your passport, diplomas, transcripts, required translations, and language proficiency certificates accepted by the college. Check the overall score requirements, individual skill minimums, and certificate validity periods for your specific level of study; there is no universal IELTS score for all programs. English for Academic Purposes (EAP) pathways and criteria for language waivers must be confirmed separately. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission if the program is competitive or has reached capacity.
5. International Tuition and Budgeting
The Fall 2026/Winter 2027/Spring 2027 fee sheet shows Business B604, group A01/A02, with total international fees for Fall 2026 + Winter 2027 at 20,099.60 CAD; group A03/A04 is 16,166.82 CAD. This is the figure in the international tuition/fees total column for that specific group, not a general price. You must confirm your intake/group code, what the fees cover, and any additional charges listed on your LOA. View the official fee sheet.
Separate tuition fees from ancillary/student fees, insurance, books, equipment, uniforms, lab fees, placement fees, and living expenses. When the fee sheet lists costs per term or credit, you must calculate the total based on the actual number of terms/credits in your program route. Deposits are typically applied to your tuition account; read the refund policies and deadlines carefully before making any payments. Tuition tags on KeyApply, when provided, serve only as a relative comparison between colleges, similar to categorizing Master's & PhD groups; they do not replace the official program fee quote.
6. Scholarships and Financial Aid
Scholarships and awards have specific conditions regarding programs, academic years, academic performance, application documentation, and international student status. You must check whether each award is open to international students or restricted to citizens/permanent residents, and review submission deadlines and renewal requirements. Do not consider any scholarship as guaranteed until you have received official written confirmation from the college.
7. Intakes and Admission Status
Start dates and application deadlines are announced on a per-program basis, not as a general schedule for all disciplines. When choosing a Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer intake, verify that the program is open for that term, the campus location, document submission deadlines, and deposit due dates. Statuses such as open, waitlist, closed, or suspended may change; KeyApply will verify this information before assisting with your application.
8. DLI, Study Permit, and PGWP
DLI Number: O19395083703. Use the correct DLI number and campus location corresponding to your LOA when preparing your application. Being a public institution with a DLI number does not guarantee that every program is eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Before enrolling, verify if the program is PGWP-eligible, check the CIP code, and review field-of-study requirements (if applicable), credential type, mode of study, and your study history. Under current IRCC guidelines, college/polytechnic programs that do not grant a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree generally require a CLB/NCLC level 5 in all four language skills; field-of-study requirements apply to study permit applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024, subject to IRCC conditions and exceptions. Bachelor's degree programs have separate regulations.
Students must also meet individual criteria such as program duration, full-time status, PGWP application timelines, and online study regulations. English-only programs and programs taught by private institutions under licensing agreements have different rules. Your LOA, PAL/TAL (if needed), and study permit are separate steps; the college does not grant the permit itself. Studying at the college does not guarantee the issuance of a PGWP, a 3-year permit duration, employment, or permanent residency.
