C10 – Work Permit under the Significant Benefit to Canada category

This LMIA-exempt category is assessed based on the significant economic, social, or cultural benefits of the work to Canada.

Target audience and key requirements

  • Demonstrate benefits through specific evidence, beyond personal benefits or the standard benefits of a job offer.
  • Possess experience, achievements, or capabilities relevant to the job.
  • Meet the requirements for the work permit, employer, and temporary stay.

Required documentation

Job offer, CV, degrees/achievements, letters from experts/organizations, and evidence of the work's impact.

Important notes

C10 is not an automatic option when an employer cannot obtain an LMIA; the grounds for exemption must be proven.

Being LMIA-exempt still requires meeting the conditions for a work permit. Work permits and permanent residency are assessed separately.
