C45 – Medical Residents and Medical Research Fellows
For medical/dental residents or medical research fellows who meet the funding and training requirements.
Target Audience and Key Requirements
- Hold a medical/dental degree equivalent to a Canadian degree; fellowships may require a completed residency in a specialty.
- Accepted into an eligible training/research position.
- Verification of funding sources and provincial licensure.
Required Documentation
Degrees, hospital/faculty letter, specialty records, funding proof, and professional licensure.
Points to Note
This is not a general LMIA exemption for all doctors wishing to work in Canada.
LMIA exemption still requires meeting work permit eligibility criteria. Work permits and permanent residency are processed separately.
