NLPNP - (Worker) Express Entry Skilled Worker, Newfoundland and Labrador

The Express Entry Skilled Worker Category is for candidates with a valid federal Express Entry profile who have a job or a high-skilled job offer in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Key Requirements

• Have a valid Express Entry profile and have been accepted into the Express Entry pool.
• Have a job offer or qualifying employment in Newfoundland and Labrador from an eligible employer; the position must be in a high-skilled occupation as required by the program.
• Achieve a minimum of 67/100 points on the NLPNP assessment grid.
• Hold a work permit or be eligible to apply for one; demonstrate sufficient financial resources and the intention to settle permanently in the province.
• Meet language, education, experience, and licensing/certification requirements if the occupation mandates them.

EOI and Current Process

1. Create an Expression of Interest (EOI) on the Immigration Accelerator Portal.
2. The province selects candidates based on labor market needs, priorities, and quotas; an EOI is not a nomination application and does not guarantee an invitation.
3. If you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), submit a full application by the deadline stated in the invitation. The government has currently announced that the deadline has been temporarily reduced from 60 days to 30 days.
4. If nominated by the province, proceed to submit a permanent residence application to IRCC.

Candidates must maintain legal status in Canada at the time of application and meet all category requirements at the time their file is assessed.

NLPNP 2026 Updates

Newfoundland and Labrador now uses an Expression of Interest (EOI) and Invitation to Apply (ITA) system for the NLPNP. An EOI is valid for 12 months. Once invited, candidates have 30 days to submit a complete application; ITAs cannot be extended. Receiving an ITA does not guarantee a nomination.
