FAQ
Question: I am currently on an Open Work Permit, living in Montreal, and do not yet have a CLB4 in English/French. Is there any program for domestic workers next March? Is English/French required?
Answer: IRCC's Home Child Care Provider / Home Support Worker Pilot will reopen on March 31, 2026. However, this program does not apply to those planning to work in Québec, as Québec has its own immigration system. You must prove that you will be working outside the province of Québec to be eligible to apply.
Regarding language, the minimum requirement is CLB 4 in English or French. You need to take the IELTS General or TEF/TCF exam to meet this standard.
An Open Work Permit is an advantage, but to apply for PR, you still need to meet all requirements: a valid job offer, work experience, education, and language proficiency.
