🇨🇦 HOME CARE SUPPORT WORKER - A FIELD OF STUDY THAT OPENS PATHS TO PERMANENT RESIDENCY AND SUSTAINABLE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN CANADA
Canada is experiencing a severe shortage of healthcare and community support workers. To address this need, the Federal Government has launched the Home Support Worker Pilot (HSWP) program – a special immigration program for individuals who work in home care for children, the elderly, people with disabilities, or patients.
This is a highly humane job, helping others in their daily lives – from caregiving and mobility assistance to meal preparation and emotional support. Participants in the HSWP can apply for Permanent Residency (PR) without an LMIA , requiring only a minimum of one year of post-secondary employment, CLB 4 level in a language, and experience or qualifications in the healthcare field. After six months of valid employment in Canada, the worker and their family may be eligible to apply for PR.
With increasing demand, Home Care Support Worker and Personal Support Worker (PSW) have become two of the most sought-after professions today, not only by international workers but also by those already settled in Canada. However, due to overwhelming enrollment, public colleges offering these programs are almost at capacity and have no vacancies for the upcoming intake.
Therefore, opting for a private college system to obtain a formal degree is becoming a popular choice for many. Private colleges offer advantages such as flexible schedules, continuous enrollment, a compact learning environment, and practical curricula that closely align with the employment needs of families, nursing homes, and healthcare facilities across Canada.
