Cyprus to Join Schengen Area in 2025, US Visa Waiver Negotiations Progressing Well

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides , announced that the country expects to complete the technical requirements for joining the Schengen Area by the end of 2025. He affirmed that the relevant political issues have been resolved, and the government is now finalizing the technical details for official Schengen membership.

Furthermore, Cyprus is also close to joining the U.S. Visa Waiver Program . The government has submitted a bill to the House of Representatives to expedite this process, aiming to allow Cypriot citizens to travel to the U.S. visa-free for stays of up to 90 days . One of the key requirements is a visa rejection rate of less than 3% , and according to unofficial figures, Cyprus is currently meeting this criterion.
